Mom Gives Birth After Almost 18 Hours of Labor, but the Doctor Doesn’t Make It, so Her Husband Steps In

Not every birth goes according to plan, and some of the most memorable ones unfold in a matter of seconds. For one family, a doctor's late arrival turned a devoted dad into an unexpected hero.

A Florida mom has gone viral after her husband stepped in to deliver their baby when the doctor didn't arrive in time. Rosa Jeong, 37, shared the moment in a TikTok video that has amassed nearly 20 million views.

In the clip, which appears to have been removed as of this writing, Rosa's husband, Chris, can be seen swiftly springing into action, grabbing their daughter, Celine, and bringing her to Rosa.

As the video continues, nurses in the background look on, awestruck by his quick thinking. "I was at the end of labor after almost 18 hours. They had checked, and I was only 5.5 cm just 40 minutes earlier, so no one expected for my baby to come so soon," Rosa explained.

She continued, "When it was time, I knew she was coming, but it didn't give the doctor enough time to get in the room. My husband was by my side the entire time and naturally jumped in to catch our baby girl."

Celine is the couple's third child, and the pair also share son Christopher, 12, and daughter Isabella, 7. Looking back on the moment, Rosa said she was so focused on her newborn that she barely gave a thought to her husband being the one to deliver her.

"I was just relieved that my baby girl was being born. He's never done anything like this. His background is in ministry, and he is currently an athletic director at a local Christian school," Rosa said. Even so, Chris has never treated the moment as the big deal it truly was.

"We didn't even talk about it much. I think we really thought it was just the natural thing to do since the doctor didn't make it, but looking back we realize how iconic it really is. He still thinks it wasn't that big of a deal," Rosa shared. "In his eyes, he did what needed to be done."

Everyone else in the room, which included Chris and Rosa's kids, their doula, a friend, and Rosa's mom, was left in awe. "Everyone was overjoyed, and we all thought it was so amazing that he delivered baby Celine," Rosa said.

Viewers online were just as captivated.

"Everyone was shocked, others were amazed, but overall I really didn't expect millions of people from all over the world to react to the video," she admitted. "A lot of people have questioned the medical staff, but from our perspective they were so amazing and kind."

Rosa says part of her reason for posting the video was to open up about her journey, as her pregnancy with Celine came after a loss.

"My hope is to inspire other moms pregnant with their rainbow baby or those hoping to get pregnant to enjoy the journey and trust that everything will turn out more than okay," she said. Rosa's older children were also thrilled to be part of their little sister's birth story.

"My son Christopher is the sweetest big brother who prayed so much for me to have another baby," Rosa said. "He was so amazing during my labor and stepped in whenever Dad had to use the restroom."

The doting mom of three added that her daughter Isabella is also the "proudest big sister." "She wants to be a doctor when she grows up, so seeing her during the labor be curious and involved was so sweet."
