An ICU specialist, Dr. Joseph Varon, has gone viral after going out of his way to comfort an elderly COVID-19 patient during the Thanksgiving Day festivities.

The touching photo of an ICU doctor, Joseph Varon, has gone viral after he was photographed sharing an emotional moment with an aged COVID-19 patient who seemed to have needed comforting at that period.

The doctor was seen in his full protective garb, complete with his face shield and mask. The patient in question was dressed in white hospital garb as he nestled in the crook of the doctor's arm.

The image created a rush of different emotions ranging from fear of the virus to pity and compassion for anyone viewing it as Dr. Varon gathered the veteran in his arms.

It was a Thanksgiving celebration day and also the 252nd day of Dr. Varon's presence at the COVID-19 unit at the United Memorial Medical Centre. The picture shared by Getty Images' official Twitter pages had so many fans expressing their varying emotions.

Many admirers were impressed with Dr. Varon's actions as they praised him for going out of his way as well as sending him love.

While one person called the medical practitioner an incredible being, another person outlined the message of humility and kindness that they deciphered.

Before the day the photo went viral, the now-famous doctor appeared on CNN, where he passionately talked about the surging cases of COVID-19 and the alarming rate at which patients came into the hospital when their health was critical.

Despite the bleak development, there is a silver lining as vaccines are beginning to turn out in large numbers.

Dr. Varon made it known that citizens should be more careful and serious about COVID-19 while he sounded a note of warning letting the general public know that there were critical days ahead.

The medical expert described the state of his hospital as he mentioned that the spaces were filled up, and he had to open up more wings. He also touched on the fact that many of his emergency workers and nurses were stressed and struggling to hold up.

While speaking, Dr. Varon could not help but decry the attitude of the populace who have decided to overlook many of the safety rules kept in place. He shared that the war was against COVID-19 and "stupidity."

Despite the bleak development, there is a silver lining as vaccines are beginning to turn out in large numbers. The Pfizer vaccine, in particular, has been put into consideration for more production, means of better preservation, and distribution.
