Madonna Gets Her First Tattoo — Here's the Design She Got in Honor of Her 6 Children
Queen of Pop Madonna surprised her fans and followers after revealing on social media that she got her first tattoo ever in honor of her six children.
On December 7, Madonna uploaded a slideshow on Instagram showing some of the highlights of her visit to the Shamrock Social Club, a tattoo parlor in Hollywood.
In the first image, East Iz, the tattoo artist, appeared cleaning the area where she got the tattoo. The second pic showed East and Madonna talking and probably discussing the design.

MADONNA’S FIRST TATTOO
Madonna’s tattoo (her first ever) was depicted in only one of the slideshow's photos. She got her six children's initials – L R D M S E – inked on her inner wrist.
The singer added in the caption the hashtag “Family,” making it even more evident that it was a tribute to her children Lourdes, Rocco, David, Mercy, Stella, and Estere.
Madonna decided to get her tattoo weeks after celebrating Thanksgiving with all of her children, and she posted a short video posing with her kids on Instagram, as well.
A few seconds into the clip, the family broke off and started doing different things, like playing the guitar and resting on the couch. “A Beautiful Souvenir,” the singer wrote in the caption.

MADONNA’S SIX CHILDREN
The Queen of Pop has been a doting mother since October 1996, when she gave birth to her and Carlos Leon’s daughter Lourdes. In August 2000, Rocco was born to Madonna and Guy Ritchie.
From that point on, Madonna stopped having biological children and started adopting. David and Mercy, from Malawi, joined the family in 2006 and 2009, respectively.
Finally, twin sisters Stella and Estere, also from Malawi, were adopted in 2017. At the time, she thanked everyone in Malawi who helped make the twins’ adoption possible.
She also asked the media to respect their privacy during “this transitional time” and was grateful for the support and love her friends, family, and team showed.
It is important to point out that Malawi, a country in southeastern Africa, is very close to the singer’s heart as she has been helping with the extreme poverty there for years.
In 2006, for example, she and Michael Berg co-founded Raising Malawi, a non-profit charity focused on supporting vulnerable children in that country. Madonna is definitely an icon.
