Monica loudly loves her children and regularly gives social media updates, proudly showing them off. In June, the Grammy Award winner shared a series of photos where she and her kids rocked matching outfits.

She and Laiyah twinned in light green jackets while the boys rocked a white sweatshirt and black joggers. Another time the lovely family-of-four tugged at hearts was during their visit to Myrtle Beach Safari in September.

LAIYAH’S BIRTHDAY PARTY

In September 2019, little Laiyah turned six, and her mother celebrated the big day in style. The vocalist and her ex, Brown, threw a unicorn-themed party called Sweet Six Sleepover.

“Happy “Sweet Six” Birthday Laiyah... You’re the Sweetest Thing I’ve ever known... Continue to be a leader that’s compassionate & caring human that respects others.”

MONICA’S DIVORCE FROM SHANNON BROWN

The songster filed for divorce from Brown, a former NBA player, after eight years of marriage. The duo first made headlines in 2010, and in November of that year, they tied the knot in a secret ceremony in Los Angeles.

They eventually confirmed the news in January 2011 and got remarried publicly in July. Fans began noticing trouble in February 2019 when they saw the singer without her wedding ring in photos.

HOW THE DIVORCE AFFECTED HER KIDS

In an interview, Monica opened up about how her divorce proceedings with Brown were negatively affecting her kids. She explained that her children find it hard to understand the process and often face confusion asking questions in their heads.

She recalled a particular moment when her second son, Romelo, asked her if she could stop the divorce during a candid conversation. Monica revealed that she opened up about the procedure to her son, hiding nothing from him.
