The executive producer of "Jeopardy!," Mike Richards, described Trebek's ability to shoot these episodes while battling pancreatic cancer as a "herculean" effort. He said the 80-year-old efficiently carried out his duties despite being in pain.

Although the Emmy winner's message of hope was recorded last year, it came during a crucial period in the United States as the country continues to endure various hardships due to the pandemic.

The game show is yet to announce Trebek's replacement, but it will continue with a series of guest-hosts. The first of them is the show's 74-time champion Ken Jennings, and his episodes are scheduled to air from January 11.
