Alex Trebek Gives an Inspiring Speech in One of His Last 'Jeopardy!' Episodes – Learn about It Here

Even after his death, legendary host Alex Trebek continues to inspire fans. The icon shared a touching message of hope in one of his final pre-taped "Jeopardy!" episodes.

Alex Trebek was the award-winning host of the popular game show "Jeopardy!" and held this position until his death. His legacy continues through his final pre-taped episodes, and in one of these clips, he shared an emotional message.

The clip was shared on Instagram by the game show on January 4. It captured the late host addressing viewers at home with a touching message of hope amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Trebek reminded viewers about his previous Thanksgiving message, where he asked them to express their profound gratitude for the various blessings in their lives. He continued by stating his new message was different.

The game show host implored fans to be generous not only to their loved ones but to the people affected by the pandemic. He asked viewers to open their hearts to those in need for the greater good of the community. In his words:

"We're trying to build a gentler, kinder society."

This inspirational episode and the other pre-taped footage were filmed in 2020 and began airing on January 4, 2021. These episodes were reportedly filmed just days before the icon died on November 8.

The legendary host's final pre-taped episode is scheduled to air on January 8.

The executive producer of "Jeopardy!," Mike Richards, described Trebek's ability to shoot these episodes while battling pancreatic cancer as a "herculean" effort. He said the 80-year-old efficiently carried out his duties despite being in pain.

Although the Emmy winner's message of hope was recorded last year, it came during a crucial period in the United States as the country continues to endure various hardships due to the pandemic.

There have reportedly been over 20 million cases and 350,000 deaths related to coronavirus. This is why Trebek's inspirational message on the importance of human relationships and kindness came at the perfect time.

The legendary host's final pre-taped episode is scheduled to air on January 8, and it will feature a sweet tribute dedicated to the 80-year-old's career and achievements, such as the 37 seasons he spent on "Jeopardy!".

The game show is yet to announce Trebek's replacement, but it will continue with a series of guest-hosts. The first of them is the show's 74-time champion Ken Jennings, and his episodes are scheduled to air from January 11.
