In a humorous public service announcement released by Noisey in 2014, he walked viewers through his approach to hosting, covering everything from preparing the house and choosing the right outfit to managing guests throughout the night.

Although the video leaned into comedy, many of his suggestions reflected practical lessons from someone familiar with keeping a party going.

Prepare the House Before Anyone Arrives

For Khalifa, a successful party begins long before the first guest knocks on the door. "Tips for party-proofing your house is removing all glass or ceramic objects, taking pictures off the wall, and covering up the sockets if you can. You don't want anybody sticking a fork in the socket," he advised.

The rapper also suggested giving neighbors advance notice that a party was taking place. "Or lie and say that you're turning the music down every 45 minutes," he continued.

As for parents discovering what was happening, Khalifa joked, "There's no way to make sure your parents don't find out. They're always going to know."

Comfort Beats Formality

Forget formal attire. When discussing the ideal dress code, the "Black and Yellow" rapper encouraged guests to prioritize comfort over appearance, noting:

"Dress code is something you don't mind falling asleep in. I mean, you don't want to wear a suit."

The advice fit the laid-back atmosphere he described throughout the video, where the focus remained on enjoying the experience rather than impressing anyone.

Every Great Party Starts with the Host

While practical preparation mattered, Khalifa believed the host ultimately determined whether a gathering succeeded. Calling it the most important part of throwing a party, he pointed to his chest before explaining that the energy had to come from within.

"The most important thing that I would say about hosting a party is... the party's in here," he said. "It starts here. You can't have a party—you can't have a big party if you're not the party, you feel me?"

The Night Has Its Own Schedule

Khalifa also broke down what he considered the ideal timeline for a successful house party, beginning with one of the most relatable moments for any host.

"The perfect party is probably going to start around like 8," he began. "There's going to be nobody there. You're going to be real nervous. Like, 'Damn, people don't like me.'"

However, according to the Pittsburgh rapper, that quiet start is simply part of the process. As the evening unfolds, close friends are usually the first to arrive before the guest list steadily grows.

People begin showing up in small groups until, by around 12:30 a.m., the house has transformed into a full-fledged party. But along with a packed room comes another responsibility for the host. Khalifa shared:

"And then you got, you know, your randoms who pop up—really fill some space. The food's going around. You might have to reup on food. So, you got to know like the late-night food spot."

As the night moves into the early morning hours, he suggested shifting the mood rather than trying to keep the same pace. Around 2:00 or 2:30 a.m., Khalifa recommended lowering the music and swapping dancing for card games or Connect Four, creating a more relaxed atmosphere where conversations could take center stage.

By 4:00 a.m., he said, the gathering takes on a different energy as people naturally begin splitting into smaller groups. For those still going strong after sunrise, he had one final piece of advice: "Jump up, make breakfast, talk about it."

A Philosophy That Goes Beyond the Party

Although the public service announcement focused on entertaining tips, Wiz Khalifa returned repeatedly to one central idea: the host sets the tone.

His practical suggestions about protecting the house and managing guests were balanced by a simple message that extended beyond party planning, reminding viewers that creating the right atmosphere begins with the person opening the front door.
