Lana Del Rey is recently engaged to YouTuber and singer Clayton Johnson, but before she found true love, she dated several celebrities and was even engaged to Scottish songwriter Barrie-James O’Neill.

Lana has always been careful not to expose her private life, but her penchant for older men who also happened to be famous meant that over the years, the press speculated on her romances.

SULTRY AND SENSUAL

Lana burst onto the music scene in 2012 with her first major album, "Born To Die," and was an instant sensation with her melancholic, haunting music and her sultry and sensual beauty.

For years, fans knew little about her romantic life. Lana tried to keep her relationships out of the limelight, and all that fans knew was through her music and a smattering of hints on social media.

ULTIMATE ROMANTIC

Lana revealed that throughout her adolescence and young adulthood, she had had difficulties in making friends and connecting with people. She had hoped that entering the music industry meant she would meet people and hopefully fall in love.

The "Video Games" singer has admitted that the search for true love has been the one constant focus in her life and the only major dream she had yet to achieve until she met Clayton Johnson.

BROKEN ENGAGEMENT

Love, marriage, and a family have always been part of Lana's dream, and she had previously grabbed at the brass ring with Barrie-James O’Neill, to whom she was allegedly engaged in 2013.

O'Neil and Lana had started dating in 2011, and the Scottish singer was stunned to hear from a friend that she had announced the end of their relationship in an interview in 2014.

OLDER MEN

Lana was linked to controversial rock star Marilyn Manson in 2012 after he had married and divorced burlesque star Dita Von Teese. She was also linked to Guns N' Roses frontman Axel Rose. Lana stated:

"I have slept with a lot of guys in the industry, but none of them helped me get my record deals."

LIVING FOR LOVE

Nevertheless, Lana confessed that her romantic entanglements fueled her creative process and inspired many of her songs -- and that assertion roused some controversy with fans.

Lana's song "Ultraviolence," in which she sang "he hit me and it felt like a kiss," led many to believe that the singer had been involved in an abusive relationship, but she always refused to comment on it.

CELEBRITY LOVE

Lana also had a brief relationship with Academy Award nominee James Franco in 2014, and more recently, she was involved with a policeman and "Live PD" reality star Sean "Sticks" Larkin.

Larkin and Lana broke up sometime in early 2020, allegedly because their conflicting work schedules made their relationship impossible. According to both parties, the split was amicable, and they have remained friends.
