Rebel Wilson Is Excited about Hosting ABC's Dog Grooming Competition Series, 'Pooch Perfect'
Actress Rebel Wilson is expanding her reach this year by turning to the small screen. The star took to social media to share a video where she revealed that she’d be hosting a dog grooming competition.
On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, Rebel Wilson, 40, shared a video of herself on her Instagram account to share that she would be hosting a show called “Pooch Perfect.” The new series will air on ABC.
The “Pitch Perfect” star revealed that the reality show would be competitive dog grooming. Turning to her comedic side, Wilson noted that the new show would be “paw-some” while imitating a dog pouncing.
The actress confessed that she couldn’t wait to start filming the series and shared that it would be “amazing and super cute.” Wilson also revealed that the show would start airing later this year.
In the caption of her post, she reiterated her excitement about the announcement. She revealed that the show’s judges would be Lisa Vanderpump, Jorge Bendersky, and Dr. Callie Harris.
Vanderpump is a famous reality star on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” Bendersky is a celebrity dog groomer, while Harris is a veterinarian. Wilson also posted a cute video about the show on her Instagram story.
In the selfie clip, the actress appeared walking while wearing a dog snout and ear filter. She reiterated her announcement about “Pooch Perfect” while wearing a pink outfit.
“Pooch Perfect” actually aired its first season on Australia's, Wilson’s native country, Seven Network, in February 2020. The cash prize that the season winner took home was $100,000, and the actress hosted the show.
ABC revealed that the series would have eight episodes that will showcase 10 dog groomers. The country’s best groomers would appear with their assistants, according to the statement.
The contestants would take part in a series of some crazy and exciting themed challenges. Every week, contestants would compete in teams in two challenges, and then an elimination round would happen weekly.
Last December, Rebel Wilson bid 2020 or her "Year of Heath" goodbye with two photos on Instagram.
When the season finale comes, that’s where the top three teams will compete. The trio will be competing for a big cash prize and the first place “Pooch Perfect” trophy, and the show is expected to air sometime this spring.
In the challenges, groomers will transform their dogs for the “dogwalk,” according to the statement. The two challenges will include the "Ultimutt Challenge" and the "Immunity Puppertunity" showdown.
The star spent the year eating better and exercising to lose weight and be healthier. In November 2020, she announced that she’d managed to reach her goal of hitting 165 pounds a month ahead of schedule.
