Tracee Ellis Ross Shares a Rare Photo of Her Grandma Ernestine Moten — Do They Look Similar?

Comic star Tracee Ellis Ross’ new media show-off had her reminiscing about the life and times of her late grandmother, Ernestine Moten, on her posthumous birthday celebration.

Tracee Ellis Ross showed off an old-time family photo on her Instagram story as she reflected on the life of her late grandmother, Ernestine Morten. In the snapshot, Moten was photographed with her legendary daughter, Diana Ross.

Tracee’s grandma and mother seemed to have been at an evening event where they rocked stylish glams and posed for paparazzi. The late matriarch donned a green knitted ensemble while her ginger hair was styled in curls.

She spiced up her look with drooping earrings while the much-younger Diana looked gorgeous in a white ensemble, with her raven hair perfectly coiffed. Diana completed her look with a big smile and silver jewelry.

The pair were absolute beauties and could have passed for each other’s twinnies. It is safe to say Tracee tapped into her generational genes, sharing a striking resemblance with Moten and Diana.

Moten, who passed on in 1984 at the age of 68, was laid to rest at her suburban home in Southfield. A memorial service was held in Andrew’s Catholic Church at Wayne University, Detroit.

The late matriarch was married to Fred Earl Ross in 1942. After their separation, she married John Jordan in 1977. She is survived by her daughters, Diana, Barbara Lee, and Marguerita, and three sons.

These days, “Ain’t No Mountain” crooner, Diana has stepped in as her family’s matriarch. Besides her fame, she has a beautiful family that she is quite proud of. She is a mom to five grownups, all in the entertainment sphere.

Her oldest child, Rhonda, was from a brief relationship with Motown boss Berry Gordy. After she married entertainment mogul Robert Ellis Silberstein, she welcomed two daughters, Tracee and Chudney.

Her other kids are Ross and Evan from her marriage to Norwegian shipping magnate Arne Naess Jr. She and Arne called off their marriage in 2000. These days, Diana is a grandma to five kids.

Diana’s success story is one that has spanned decades and despite her fame, her children had to make a name for themselves. One such person is Tracee, who once recalled that she tried so hard not to live in her mom’s shadow.

The star noted that she encountered a situation where she was told she would not become a star. Tracee was tagged a basic person and not worthy of TV, but that was the turning point in her career because she never gave up.
