Jamie Lee Curtis Becomes a Grandmother for the First Time – Inside Her Life as a Mom of Two Adopted Children
The 67-year-old and her husband have become grandparents, with the actress emotionally sharing the news of their growing family.
Jamie Lee Curtis is known for keeping her personal life close to her heart despite her Hollywood fame. She recently opened up about becoming a grandmother for the first time during a podcast appearance. It is a role that adds to her long journey as a mother to two adopted daughters.

Inside Jamie Lee Curtis's First Steps Into Motherhood
Jamie has built an impressive career in Hollywood, starring in widely recognized films such as "Everything Everywhere All at Once," "Freaky Friday," and "True Lies." Away from the spotlight, however, she takes just as much pride in her role as a mother — and now, a grandmother.
The actress is married to Christopher Guest, and together they have three children. Their journey into parenthood began with the adoption of their eldest child, Annie Guest, shortly after her birth in December 1986.

Jamie has recalled how the moment unfolded unexpectedly, sharing that they received a phone call in the middle of the night informing them Annie had been born. She also recounted their first meeting with humor, describing how the newborn rolled over, looked at her, and promptly threw up.
Annie’s adoption was an open one, with both her birth parents and the couple meeting and choosing each other through an attorney. Still, Jamie noted that their fame made the experience feel slightly different from a typical adoption process.

She explained in 1997, "It's a look in their eyes — they're afraid to look straight at you; they treat you like royalty; they're very self-conscious. But when we met Annie's birth mother, and she said, 'Hi, I'm happy to meet you,' it was like, boom, it was OK. I knew we could adopt."
A Second Adoption That Felt Written in Fate
Ruby joined the family in March 1996, ten years after the adoption of her older sister, Annie. Unlike Annie's adoption, which had been more intentional, Ruby's arrival came about through a series of unexpected and meaningful events.

Jamie later explained that a unique set of circumstances — ones she described as almost destined — ultimately led to the adoption.
She noted at the time that the experience felt serendipitous and was connected to a close friend who had since passed away. "Five or six events came together, all of which resulted in our family growing within four days," the actress shared.

Turning Motherhood Into Stories That Speak to the Heart
Drawing from her experience as an adoptive mother, Jamie has also ventured into writing, creating children's books that reflect themes of family and identity.
Her book "Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born" presents a lively and heartfelt take on adoption. It also highlights the importance of love and belonging within a family.

She also authored "When I Was Little: A Four-Year-Old's Memoir of Her Youth," which captures the playful and imaginative perspective of a young child looking back on her early years.
Told through the eyes of a four-and-a-half-year-old, the story celebrates self-discovery and growing up in a way that resonates with younger readers.

The Emotional Toll Behind Her Career
Jamie has also opened up about the challenges of balancing her career with motherhood, as well as how her own upbringing shaped her perspective.
While promoting "Freakier Friday," the sequel to "Freaky Friday," she shared that it was difficult raising her two daughters while pursuing a demanding career in the entertainment industry.

Jamie recalled, "It was a struggle for me from when Annie was a baby, and I was making 'A Fish Called Wanda.' There wasn't a day I didn’t cry in the car, leaving a 6-month-old at home."
The actress acknowledged that as much as her career was filled with excitement and creativity, she still struggled. Jamie also reflected on how her experience mirrored that of her own mother, Janet Leigh.

She noted, "I followed in the footsteps of my mother, who worked all the time because you worry you're not going to get work again. I've never reconciled it. I won't reconcile it until I'm gone."
At the same time, she expressed a deep sense of loss, sharing how much she missed her mother and how she believed she would have appreciated "Freakier Friday," and the people in her life.

Amid these reflections on motherhood, Jamie also shared a perspective she once heard about parenting that stayed with her. She recalled the idea that raising children is a unique kind of success — one that ultimately leads to separation.
Unlike other achievements in life, which are often measured by what one builds and holds onto, parenting is about preparing children to have independent minds.

In her view, the goal is not to keep children close in every sense, but to allow them to develop their own beliefs and live separate lives. Even so, she noted that the hope is for that independence to still be accompanied by a positive connection between parent and child.
Annie Guest Steps Into Her Own Spotlight
Jamie's dedication to motherhood has been evident in the lives her daughters have built, each carving out her own path. Her eldest, Annie, pursued dance professionally, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Kenyon College, where her peers recognized her as the best choreographer.

Now based in Los Angeles, Annie has established herself as a dancer, choreographer, and instructor, primarily working at MNR Dance Factory. Her passion for dance began early — she started training at just three years old and joined the studio at eight.
By 16, she was already teaching, a clear sign of her commitment to the craft. Over time, she has taken on a leadership role as co-director of the studio's award-winning dance team. She teaches a wide range of styles, including ballet, jazz/contemporary, lyrical, modern, tap, and hip-hop.
In addition to working with advanced students, she also teaches young children under six, focusing on flexibility and conditioning, and supports dancers with ASD and other motor or developmental challenges.
Outside of her career, Annie marked a major personal milestone when she married Jason Wolf in July 2019. The wedding took place at her parents' Los Angeles home, with Jamie later describing it as a "spectacular celebration" and a "loving, familial blending."
Ruby Guest's Journey: Identity and a Family's Unwavering Support
Meanwhile, Ruby works as a video editor for a gaming personality on YouTube. They have been outspoken about coming out as a transgender with the support of their family.
In 2020, Jamie and Christopher shared a deeply personal family moment when Ruby prepared to come out as transgender. Sitting together in their Los Angeles backyard, Ruby initially wanted to tell her parents in person but found herself unable to go through with it.

Ruby explained, "It was scary — just the sheer fact of telling them something about me they didn't know. It was intimidating — but I wasn't worried. They had been so accepting of me my entire life."
Instead, Ruby chose to share the news through a text message after leaving, prompting an immediate response from her mother. Jamie recalled, "I called her immediately. Needless to say, there were some tears involved."

Jamie has also shared milestones from Ruby's life with fans. On May 29, 2022, she announced her daughter's wedding in a heartfelt Instagram post, writing, "WIFE IS SWEET! Ruby and Kynthia 5/29/2022."
Two years later, Jamie also celebrated with Ruby and Kynthia their second wedding anniversary. She wrote on a sweet post on Instagram, "Two years ago today, on a gorgeous Cali day, Ruby and Kynthia were married in our backyard at a cosplay wedding for the ages. Love, laughter, yummy food and drink, and a family uniting and blending and becoming. Happy day. Wife is sweet!"
A Love Story That's Only Grown Stronger with Time
Jamie and her husband, Christopher, have now been married for 41 years. When they celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary, she shared a photo of the two holding hands,
She reflected," One of the longest relationships I've had seeking comfort and contact, and connection is with Chris. Today marks the 36th anniversary of our wedding. My hand in his. Then and now."

The actress also noted that their connection extended beyond just the two of them, emphasizing that they are bound together through their children, family, and close friends.
She described their handholding as a link in their shared emotional chain, one that has carried them through both triumphs and hardships over the years.
The Emotional Moment She Revealed Her New Role as Grandma
Now Jamie and Christopher have entered a new chapter in their lives following the arrival of a new family milestone. Jamie recently shared that Annie and her husband, Jason, became parents in December 2025, marking her transition into grandmotherhood. She revealed the news while appearing on the "IMO" podcast hosted by Michelle Obama and her brother Craig Robinson.
Jamie explained that her daughter had given her permission to share the announcement on the podcast, due to her and her generation's admiration for the former First Lady. She was also moved that this became the first platform where she publicly shared that she is now a grandmother.

During the conversation, Jamie became emotional as she shared that her grandson was born just a week after Rob Reiner and Michele Singer were stabbed to death in their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on December 14, 2025, which is also Annie’s birthday. The actress described this as life's harshest and most beautiful moments colliding.
Fans Celebrate as She Enters a Heartwarming New Chapter
Jamie's milestone as a first-time grandmother has sparked warm reactions from fans. One admirer shared heartfelt admiration for her family life, "What a lucky grandchild to have you for a grandma."

Another fan praised her openness, "Awesome. Love your adoption story (hero) as I have one myself." A third message kept it simple but deeply appreciative, noting, "Jamie, you are an amazing person."
Adding a lighthearted and affectionate perspective on grandparenthood, another fan commented, "One of the best blessings life has for you! (It's fun, too, if your 'little' calls you his/her own special name!)."
Through life's personal highs and lows, Jamie Lee Curtis has reflected on how meaningful it feels to step into this new phase of life. She is leaning on the continued love and support of her family as she embraces becoming a grandmother.
