Woman Refuses to Invite Grandmother to Her Wedding Because She Is Intolerant to Gay People
Shamia is excited about getting married to her longtime boyfriend. Everything is going smoothly for her big day, except for one day when her grandmother and gay sister caused problems.
Shamia and Ashton have been dating since their teens. The couple loves each other very much. Now that they both have stable jobs, they think they are ready to get married.
When she called her grandmother Anita to let her know she is getting married, the 75-year-old could not wait to come. Shamia is very fond of her grandmother, so she is excited to have her there.

Shamia found out a few days ago that her sister Kyla, who will be her maid of honor, is gay. She has no problem with her sister being gay; in fact, she invited Kyla's girlfriend Danah to her wedding, as well.
Shamia had no idea that would be the beginning of her problems. Her grandmother got angry when she found out Kyla is gay. Anita told Shamia to uninvite Kyla's girlfriend, or she won't come.

Shamia loves Anita, but she was upset at what her grandmother did. She told her immediately that she didn't want her at her wedding if she thought that way.
She believed she had the right to choose who to invite because it's her wedding.

When Shamia's family learned of her decision, they told her to uninvite Danah and apologize to her grandmother. But Shamia stood her ground despite adverse reactions.
Shamia has a strong bond with Danah, more so than with her grandmother, and that is why she wanted her to attend her wedding. She no longer cares what Anita or her family thinks.

Kyla also agreed with Shamia's decision not to invite their grandmother again. Recently, Shamia discovered Anita and their other relatives have been bullying her sister and Danah.
As a result, Shamia also did not invite their other relatives. She believed she had the right to choose who to invite because it's her wedding. Ashton supported her in all of her decisions.
