People: Meghan Markle & Princess Eugenie Have Been Extremely Close throughout Their Pregnancies

Duchess Meghan and Princess Eugenie are apparently quite close to each other, especially regarding their pregnancies. The Duchess of Sussex is currently pregnant with her second child.

On February 14, 2021, Duchess Meghan and her husband Prince Harry announced that they were pregnant with their second child. The couple is already parents to a son, Archie, 1.

On the other hand, Princess Eugenie, Harry’s cousin, is now a parent to one child. She welcomed her baby boy on February 9, 2021, just a few days before the Sussexes made their pregnancy announcement.

August Philip Hawke Brooksbank was born at 08:55 GMT weighing 8lbs 1oz at the Portland Hospital in central London. Eugenie shares the newborn baby with her husband, Jack Brooksbank.

The new royal baby is the Queen's 9th great-grandchild and is 11th in line to the throne. According to People magazine sources, Markle and Eugenie have actually built a bond throughout their pregnancies.

A family friend claimed the pair were so close that they would’ve known each other’s due dates. Brooksbank and Eugenie are also currently staying at the Sussex’s former UK home, Frogmore Cottage.

The couple even got married in the same year, with Eugenie and her husband marrying on January 22, 2018. In contrast, Harry and Markle tied the knot a few months later, on May 19, 2018.

The royal source noted how “lovely” it was that Eugenie had her baby while Markle and Prince Harry were having theirs. The insider shared how “very close” the couples were, adding:

"These times tend to bring families together.”

The Sussexes allegedly informed their families in advance before publicly sharing their second pregnancy news. A photographer friend of Markle took a gorgeous black-and-white image for the announcement.

Some of them suggested Markle had stolen Eugenie's thunder.

Eugenie and her husband revealed the birth of baby August by sharing a black-and-white Instagram photo. The image featured the two parents holding their baby boy’s tiny hand.

After the Sussexes made their pregnancy announcement, some British tabloids were critical of how they shared the news. Some of them suggested Markle had stolen Eugenie's thunder.

Royal experts have responded by arguing how unfair it was to assume that the Duke and Duchess were purposefully trying to upstage Harry’s cousin. It’s probably all just due to unique timing.
