David Blaine's Personal Life — from Cheating Allegations to Fathering His Only Daughter

Famous illusionist and endurance artist David Blaine is also the doting father of a 10-year-old daughter, but his reputation has been shaded by cheating scandals and worrying allegations about him.

Ever since the demise of his relationship of six years with the mother of his only child in 2014, 43-year-old illusionist and performer David Blaine hasn’t come out in public with any other serious partner, fiercely protecting his privacy.

In 2020 “David Blaine Ascension” marked David’s first stunt since 2012, which led to a renewed interest in his work, and, inevitably, in his personal life as well, with his eager fans wanting to know what has become of him in the last eight years.

A lot has changed for David in that period. His daughter Dessa Blaine, shared with 35-year-old French model and actress Alizee Guinochet, is not a baby anymore but a 10-year-old girl, and David’s engagement with Guinochet was called off long ago.

David and Guinochet started to date publicly in 2008, and by the following year, the two had become engaged, as the couple announced in September 2009, without defining an exact date to exchange vows.

DAUGHTER DESSA

David and Guinochet welcomed daughter Dessa on January 27, 2011, with Guinochet reportedly going into labor in the middle of a massive snowstorm and David having to struggle with the snow to get to the hospital on time.

It was only in April 2020, when Dessa was already 9 years old, that the magician decided to formally introduce his little girl to the media, with Dessa making an appearance in the NBC special “David Blaine: The Magic Way.”

During the show, Dessa proved that she has an interest and a talent for magic, and she did a card trick to model Gisele Bundchen and TV show host James Corden in front of the camera.

While David sees Dessa often and the two are very close, Dessa spends most of her time in Paris, France, with Guinochet. Nevertheless, Dessa has managed to absorb some of her father’s tricks only by watching him over the years.

"When she was little, I could do magic while holding her, and when she was four she just started doing magic to me,” a proud David told USA Today in 2020, in one of his rare interviews.

CHEATING SCANDAL

In 2013, after being engaged to Guinochet for four years without ever setting a wedding date, a scandal unfolded when David was spotted in a New Jersey nightclub being more than friendly with another woman.

By that time, David and Guinochet’s daughter Dessa was already a one-year-old, which made the entire thing sound more awful, but David tried to defend himself arguing that he didn’t actually cheat on Guinochet since they were “on a break.”

At least this is what a representative of David claimed when approached for a comment by TMZ. The representative also stated that David still regretted causing any embarrassment to his fiancée with his public display of affection that night.

ACCUSATIONS AGAINST DAVID

In 2016, model Natasha Prince made very serious accusations of sexual misconduct against David. Prince reported the allegations to British authorities then, but the alleged incident between Prince and David happened back in 2004.

After an investigation was open on the case, David flew to the UK to give an interview with the authorities, with his team assuring that the magician was willing to cooperate with the investigation and had nothing to hide.

Prince reportedly spent a full year in talks with the London police about David’s alleged sexual misconduct when the #metoo movement gained force after Harvey Weinstein was exposed by The New York Times, which led to his incarceration.

In 2020, David was cleared of any charges by the police, but not before other women came forward with similar accusations, with two women reporting him to the NYPD over incidents that allegedly took place in the 1990s.
