Katherine McPhee and David Foster became parents to a healthy baby boy in February after a source confirmed the “American Idol” alum’s pregnancy in October.

Although the first-time mom kept her pregnancy down low, she has opened up about her journey into motherhood in recent weeks, even sharing a few photos of her baby bump on Instagram.

LIFE AS A MOM

According to an insider, the 36-year-old was over the moon after welcoming her son since she had always wanted to be a mom. Although it has only been weeks, McPhee is already learning to balance work and family. Another source shared:

“Katharine is having a wonderful time as a mother, and next up, she’ll soon be promoting her new show ‘Country Comfort’ on Netflix.”

While it was Katharine’s first pregnancy, Foster is already a father to five kids, Jordan, 34, Erin, 38, Sara, 40, Amy, 47, and Allison, 50, from previous relationships.

A TOUGH PREGNANCY

During an interview on “Dr. Berlin’s Informed Pregnancy Podcast,” McPhee revealed that the most challenging part of her pregnancy was her issue with body image.

After dating for a while, the couple exchanged their vows during a beautiful wedding ceremony in June 2019.

Having been diagnosed with bulimia before, the new mom was scared of having an eating disorder relapse, especially when she realized her food obsession was getting out of hand.

GETTING THROUGH

After gaining 40 pounds of baby weight and trying to strictly discipline herself, McPhee sought help from a professional psychiatrist in her child’s best interest and safety.

Luckily, getting external help was a great move that improved the singer’s wellbeing. Although she misses her slim waistline, McPhee accepted that pregnancy comes with added pounds.

The “Waitress” star was previously married to Nick Cokas for eight years but had no kids. Meanwhile, Foster had for wives before her, B.J. Cook, Rebecca Dyer, Linda Thompson, and Yolanda Hadid.

LOVING FOSTER

McPhee and Foster’s relationship initially became controversial because of their over three-decade age gap. The pair met in 2006 when the Canadian musician mentored McPhee on “American Idol.”

After dating for a while, the couple exchanged their vows during a beautiful wedding ceremony in June 2019. Finally, two years later, the pair had their first child and only confirmed the news through a representative.
