See Ree Drummond's Update on Husband Ladd & Nephew Caleb's Health after Their Hospitalization
This week, television personality Ree Drummond’s husband and nephew were both involved in a car accident. In a recent social media post, the chef gave an update on their health.
On Wednesday, March 10, 2021, Ladd Drummond and his nephew Caleb were involved in a car accident. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol revealed that the accident occurred at around 1:43 p.m.
The incident happened about eight miles west of Pawhuska. Ladd and Caleb, 21, were driving separate Himmat Fire Trucks in reaction to the fires in northeast Oklahoma on County Road N3660.

Ladd, 57, drove northbound, and his nephew was going southbound when the two trucks hit each other in a head-on collision. The report said, "high winds on a gravel road" caused decreased visibility for the drivers.
Sadly, neither driver had their seatbelts on during the collision. Caleb was thrown out of his vehicle to around 70 feet from where he was discovered, and they were both taken to hospital.
Ree’s nephew was admitted in critical condition at Tulsa's St. John Medical Center. He had a head, leg, arm, and internal injuries from the crash, while his uncle refused treatment on the scene.
Ladd was taken to the same hospital after trying to fight an almost 1000-acre brush fire. He and Caleb were recovering after their collision near the family's Osage County, Oklahoma farm.
The day after the accident, Ree took to Facebook to give an update on her husband and nephew’s health. “The Pioneer Woman” began by thanking her fans for their prayers for her family, adding:
“Caleb and Ladd are in the hospital, but we think they will both be okay.”
The television personality noted how grateful her family was, knowing how much worse things could’ve been. Ree, once again, thanked her fans for the kindness and love, noting how it meant a lot to her.
Ladd and Caleb ended up colliding while trying to fight a fire that was encroaching on their land.
The director of Osage County Emergency Management, Jerry Roberts, said the cause of the accident was being investigated. On Thursday, his team would visit the Drummonds on their property.
Many northeast Oklahoma fires have been burning through thousands of acres of land. Ladd and Caleb ended up colliding while trying to fight a fire that was encroaching on their land.
