Story of the Day: Man Prefers to Attend Girlfriend's Funeral over His Grandmother's

Tom and Angel have been dating since 2018. The couple met at the college where they were both currently enrolled. They planned to get married when they finished college.

Sad to say, Angel passed away recently. In her last days, she suffered what was believed to be an aortic aneurysm, which ultimately led to her death. It was a very devastating blow for Tom.

They had already made great plans for the future, and he couldn't accept her death. Angel's parents, Romeo and Jane, have decided to hold her funeral in about three weeks.

Throughout the planning process, Tom was always doing his best. It has been a rough time for him since his grandmother Anna also died last February, and she had already been cremated.

The funeral ceremony for Anna was postponed due to COVID-19. The family then rescheduled the funeral, which unfortunately falls on the same weekend as his girlfriend's.

Anna and Angel were literally across the country from one another. Tom was confused as to whose funeral he'd attend. Yet, he realized later that he had been grieving for his grandmother for too long.

Tom really believed he had made the right decision.

Since his girlfriend's death has been such a painful experience for him, he decided to attend her funeral to make his last farewell. He also wanted to show Angel's parents his support.

Tom's decision to attend his girlfriend's funeral instead of his grandmother's created a rift within his family, especially with his father Anthony, the only child of Anna.

As a result of his decision, he has been treated as a monster by his father and other family members. They are essentially ostracizing him for that. Tom really believed he had made the right decision.

However, he doesn't know anymore. He does not want to ruin his relationship with his family, and he will always love his grandmother. But Angel and her family are also very dear to him.
