Aoki Lee Simmons celebrated her mom, Kimora Lee Simmons' friendship with Tyra Banks in a recent Instagram post, sharing a throwback picture of the duo.

Kimora Lee Simmons and Tyra Banks began their modeling careers at about the same time and have been close friends for many years. The superstar models have known each other since Banks was 17.

Banks may have her haters, but Simmons is part of her inner circle. She was even the maid of honor at the latter's wedding and is the godmother of her daughter, Ming Lee Simmons.

Simmons' oldest daughter, Aoki Lee Simmons, is well aware of her mom's close friendship with Banks and took to her Instagram page on Wednesday to post a throwback picture of the duo.

The snapshot showed Simmons and Banks back in the day clad in mini-dresses during a night out. In the photo, Simmons wore a white mini gown and folded her arms as she smiled.

The reason for her smile was a goofy-looking Banks, who was a step behind her. She was clad in a pink mini gown, which she paired with green heels.

In the post's caption, Aoki wrote a quote from her mom that said, "'Fabulosity' is to get up when you’ve been kicked down, and it’s not to go after who kicked you down." She also urged her fans to tag their partners in crime.

Simmons further said she has gone more in the direction of designing and brand creation while Banks has veered into doing more television.

Many fans who commented on the picture gushed over Simmons and Banks' look from years gone by. One fan said they looked cute together, while another fan asked Aoki to recreate the snap with her sister, Ming.

Simmons has previously spoken about her friendship with Banks. In a 2013 chat with Hello Magazine, she was asked if she thought she and the "Dancing with the Stars" host would succeed in her career. She said:

"Absolutely. I think there was always something about Tyra and I think she saw that in me, too."

Simmons further said she has gone more in the direction of designing and brand creation while Banks has veered into doing more television and television production from the modeling side.

Simmons is also leading her daughters Ming and Aoki into the fashion world and family business. In 2019, she relaunched her famous Baby Phat clothing line.

Ming and Aoki are a major part of the brand. Last month, the girls modeled dresses from Baby Phat that they all designed together with their mother.

Simmons also enjoys spending time with her daughters and vacationed with them in St. Barts in January. One of the snaps showed the proud mom posing with Aoki, with the mother-daughter duo looking more like sisters than a parent and a child.
