Nevada Dad Allegedly Murdered by His 16-Year-Old Daughter & Her Boyfriend — Here's What Happened

Two Las Vegas teen lovers are charged with murder after the girl's father, Daniel Halseth, died a gruesome, stabbing death.

After dating for almost a year, 16-year-old Sierra Halseth and 18-year-old Aaron Guerrero planned to make the great escape together and pursue their relationship without adult restrictions.

But before they left, they killed Sierra's 45-year-old father, Daniel Halseth, the ex-husband of Nevada's former senator, Elizabeth Hegelian. The teens have since been arrested in Salt Lake City, Utah, for murder.

On April 9, Las Vegas police asked the victim's landlord to check up on him after his mother contacted authorities, revealing she had not heard from Daniel for two days.

Upon the house visit, Daniel's landlord came upon the horrific scene of Daniel's demise while authorities found wounds all over his torso, as well as evidence of the suspect's clean-up.

Several weapons, including a chainsaw, a hand saw, and a circular saw, which had blood and bits of tissue residue from a possible cleaning, were also discovered in the house. Two knives were reportedly recovered as well.

Although no official motive has been specified, it is believed that the fire was supposedly a cover-up to the homicide. "It's definitely disturbing when you have such young, a young man and a young woman, that are both being accused of such a horrific crime," Lt. Ray Spencer said.

An 18-year-old college student at Louisiana State University was stabbed eight times earlier this month.

The Metro Homicide Section Lieutenant further revealed that the different saws were purchased alongside bleach and lighter fluid to ignite the small fire. CCTV footage captured the teens buying the goods.

Spencer also said that Sierra stole money from her father before taking his care to leave the house. "We do know that the father had recently made comments that he did now want his daughter dating Aaron," he added.

After the investigation began, Aaron's parents went to the police claiming their son had run away. Sierra's father reportedly contacted the couple and informed them that the teens planned to run away.

Another recent crime took place after an 18-year-old college student at Louisiana State University was stabbed eight times earlier this month. The student was in his dorm room when the incident took place.

Authorities suspect 18-year-old Elizabeth Grace Johnson from Southeastern Louisiana University as the woman who stabbed the victim. Prior to that, another homicide happened in Texas after a man fired shots at his parents.
