AMC DUET

Morris and Hurd took the stage at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Sunday to perform their duet “Chasing After You,” marking their first performance together at an awarding ceremony.

The couple looked madly in love as they sang while gazing into each other’s eyes on a romantically decorated stage. The “All My Favorite People” songstress looked like a goddess in a sheer ruffled dress with pearl embellishments, while Hurd dressed in a white button-down top.

According to the 31-year-old, she had been looking forward to the exciting performance with her husband as they got to share the stage together, whereas previously, she had to look for him in the audience.

PERFECT TOGETHER

Stapleton’s wife was initially set to sing with him but had to leave at the last minute.

The pair first met during Tim McGraw’s writing session in 2013 and fell in love through their shared passion for music. In a previous interview with Us Weekly, the country star shared:

“We were paired together six years ago to write a song [...] it just kind of grew from there, so music has always been really intertwined in our love for each other.”

HONORING OTHER NOMINEES

Morris was honored with a Female Artist of the Year win at the ACM Award, just as she was last year, and landed her sixth nod. Her track, “The Bones,” was nominated for Single of the Year and Song of the Year.

Morris made sure to honor the other four nominees, Kelsea Ballerini, Miranda Lambert, Ashley McBryde, and Carly Pearce, in the category during her win, noting that they have served as her inspiration in the music industry. She said:

“I kind of consider this category to be who tried their best in a year where it was very weird and nobody could do what they were made to do.”

ACM PERFORMANCE

Several talented artists took the stage during Sunday’s event, including Lambert and Chris Stapleton, who performed an emotional duet of “Maggie’s Song.” Stapleton’s wife was initially set to sing with him but had to leave at the last minute.

According to the “Tennessee Whiskey” artist, his wife had to attend to a prior commitment -- watching over his sister-in-law’s children as she went into labor. While he did wish for her to be by his side, Chris was grateful Lambert filled in.

The other performers included Kane and Chris Young, who sang their hit single, “Famous Friends,” and Carrie Underwood, who performed a rendition of “Amazing Grace” among other tracks part of her new Gospel album.
