Tennessee Woman Accused of Killing Her 10-Year-Old Daughter and Critically Injuring Her Sister

A mother's motives are still unknown after she allegedly stabbed her 10-year-old, who later died of the injuries, with her only reasoning behind the insidious act being, "I did what I had to do."

A Tenessee woman, Lawrencia Reed, has been accused of killing her 10-year -ld daughter Kamari, and critically injuring her sister. She has also been implicated in the attempted drowning of two young boys.

Kamari and Reed's 18-year-old sister, who remains unnamed, were transported to the hospital following the purported attack. Kamari died at the facility while the sister is still in a critical state.

UNKNOWN MOTIVE

The motive of the alleged slaying is unknown. However, the mother of Kamari did resort to a chilling confession when speaking to the police, expressing:

“I told them to get into the kneeling position, my sons did but my daughter and sister didn’t and they had to go. So, I did what I had to do.”

Reed was taken to jail after law enforcement arrived at the scene. She is being charged with murder in the first degree and three counts of criminal attempt felony.

THE POLICE REPORT

The police report states that officers responded to a wounded call this past Friday night. Upon arriving at the location, they were advised that three young persons had been running from an apartment.

Another mother, Penny Short Hartle, has also recently been accused of stabbing her daughter to death.

The persons, aged 10, 12, and 18, were said to be covered in blood. It was claimed that Reed attempted to drown two young boys of 3 and 12 years old, and stabbed the 10-year-old and 18-year-old.

HELD WITHOUT BAIL

On May 4, 2020, it was reported that Reed was being held without bail. Furthermore, it was insofar unknown whether she had spoken to a counselor at law yet or if she had chosen to make a plea.

Kamari's father expressed his grief over the death of his little girl, stating that she was remarkable. A candlelight vigil was held for her, where balloons were released at the end of the gathering.

RAISING FUNDS

Kamari's aunt has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for her funeral. Writing in the description, she expanded on how kind her niece was and how difficult it has been for the family, penning:

"At this devastating time anything would help me & my family at this time to burry her."

The goal amount was set at $5,000 and has already been surpassed by $760. The comment section on the fundraising page was full of individuals sending their condolences and love to the family.

Another mother, Penny Short Hartle, has also recently been accused of stabbing her daughter to death. Little Caroline Rose Cagle had just celebrated her 5th birthday a few weeks before her demise.

Hartle was arrested with no bond and charged with murder in the second degree. She has no recorded history of criminal activity.
