Alezauna Carter, known to family and friends as Libby, has become one of the latest victims of gun violence after she was found dead with gunshot wounds on her face.
Carter has been missing for six months, and her family is yet to understand her disappearance or her horrible death and they are now seeking answers.
Her weeping mom Trisha stated emotionally in video footage captured by FOX29 that her 12-year-old daughter did not deserve the horrific end she met.
Trisha noted that they had been looking for Carter and did all they could to bring her home and keep her safe, but all efforts proved futile.
The 12-year-old Carter was reported missing in November 2020, according to police. She was last seen near the 7100 blocks of Theodore on the morning of October 12th before her disappearance.
On April 18th, six months after she went missing, police officials discovered an individual shot in the mouth in a first-floor apartment in Frankford's 1500 block of Overington Street.
Her family is searching for her, offering a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to her safe return.
They noted the victim as an unnamed female who they thought died on the spot at the time. The victim was discovered to be Carter on May 1st.
Her cousin explained that Carter was an innocent girl who only loved dancing and making TikTok clips. She might have been mistaken for hanging around the wrong crowd.
The late Carter was said to have had some problems with her family and sometimes made attempts to run away from her parents and guardians.
The day after the murder, police authorities released a surveillance video that captured a person they believe to be a prime suspect in the crime.
The perpetrator was dressed in a red shirt over a black long sleeve hooded sweatshirt and red trousers with white stripes on the legs, according to police. For information leading to an arrest and prosecution, a $20,000 reward is being offered.
