Following the divorce announcement of the power couple, Bill and Melinda Gates, it has come to light what Bill's ex, Ann Winblad, once thought of Melinda before she married Bill. 


Ann Winblad is popularly known by many as an American businesswoman. She is also known as the founding partner of Hummer Winblad Venture Partners. 

With over forty years of experience in the software industry, Winblad co-founded her first company, Open Systems Incorporated, in 1976. She has also worked for some companies as a consultant.

Apart from being a businesswoman and software entrepreneur, the 70-year-old is also famous for being the ex-girlfriend of billionaire Bill Gates.

Winblad and the Microsoft founder kick-started their romance in 1984, and despite calling it quit in 1987, the duo has found a way to keep their bond intact.

The affinity between the business tycoons seems unending, and Bill once had an agreement with his Melinda to keep a vacation tradition with Winblad alive. 

The entrepreneur has been a major part of Bill's life and has offered some advice and approvals, especially on essential aspects of his life, including marriage.

After twenty-seven years of happy living, they took to their Twitter handles to announce their divorce.


She approved the marriage between Bill and Melinda after Bill sought her permission before proposing to his wife decades ago. The award winner gave her blessings to the proposal, noting that Melinda was going to be a good match for Bill because she had intellectual stamina.

Bill and Melinda met in 1987 at the former World's richest man's Microsoft firm after Melinda joined the firm, and it was a match made in heaven.


After dating for a while, the duo tied the knot in 1994 and was happily married until recently. After twenty-seven years of happy living, they took to their Twitter handles to announce their divorce.

In the announcement, the couple declared they no longer believed they could grow together as a couple in the next phase of their lives. However, the billionaires noted they were going to work together at their foundation.

Happenings show that Bill had been planning out property settlement before the announcement, giving his wife $2 billion on the day the divorce was filed. The world awaits how things are going to unfold between the duo.
