Dr. Beach Names the 10 Best US Beaches for Summer 2021 – from Massachusetts to Hawaii

It's about that time of the year for people to throng to the beach as Dr. Beach releases his list of 10 best US beaches for summer vacation this year. The list covers Massachusetts to Hawaii.

Dr. Stephen Leatherman, aka Dr. Beach, is a professor at Florida International University. Leatherman, who also doubles as the Laboratory for Coastal Research director in the same institution, released his list of the ten best beaches for a summer vacation in the United States.

The pandemic has made this year's summer a promising one as many Americans can not wait to get back on planes, road trips, and storming the beach after plans were ruined last year by the COVID-19 virus.

With proper government regulations on travel and increased vaccinations against the virus, summer in wet sand sounds like a fun thing many people would like to engage in.

Dr. Beach, who has constantly dropped beach reviews for over three decades, did not fail this time. For the beaches to make his list, they are reviewed based on carefully considered criteria like waves, temperature, frequency of sunny weather, smell, trash, and litter, etc.

Dr. Beach also works tirelessly to make sure everybody is aware of the dangers of heavy currents and to promote no smoking at beaches.

The beach doctor compiled his list despite travel bans by heavily relying on his connections at the selected beaches for updated information. His list was first posted on Travel Magazine some decades back.

Hawaii regularly sits at the top with other beaches below or not making the list at all.

However, the magazine is defunct, but Dr. Beach's list continues to thrive. Just yesterday, he revealed his top 10 beaches with Hapuna Beach State Park, taking the number one position from Grayton Beach in Florida.

Hapuna beach got its number one spot on the list by firstly earning extra points for good records from the lifeguards and secondly, Hawaii's ban on smoking at beach premises.

The director of Hapuna Beach, Rose Birch, expressed gratitude by saying that the team is honored to have their beach on Dr. Beach's 2021 best beach list out of the several beaches in America.

Duke Kahanamoku Beach at the sixth position on the list and Hapuna beach are located in Hawaii. Following Hapuna beach closely at the second position is Cooper's Beach, in New York.

Ocracoke lifeguarded beach occupies the third position, and it is located in North Carolina alongside Lighthouse beach, which is at the fifth position on the list.

Florida has two of its beaches on the list. St George Island State Park at the 4th position and Caladesi Island State Park at the 7th position on the list. Coronado beach is the only beach from California which made the top 10 list at the 8th position.

Occupying the 9th position on the list is Beach Walker Park in South Carolina and the Coast Guard Beach in Massachusetts, sealing the 10th position.

Here's a complete list of the top 10 beaches from Hapuna Beach to Coast guard Beach according to the beach doctor's preference. Judging from his previous lists, Hawaii regularly sits at the top with other beaches below or not making the list at all.
