Boy, 12, & Girl, 14, Broke into a House Armed with AK-47 & Opened Fire on Florida Deputies
In a tragic turn of events, a teenage girl and a pre-teen boy got themselves armed with guns and ended up shooting at police officers. The girl was seriously injured from the incident.
On Tuesday night, a 12-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl ran away from their group home in Enterprise, Florida. The pair broke into an empty house at 1050 Enterprise Osteen Road.
According to the charging affidavit, the boy took an AK-47 rifle and two loaded magazines from a case in the bedroom in the home. The girl also armed herself with the weapons in the house.

In a Facebook update, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said the home had a handgun, an AK-47, a shotgun, and lots of ammunition. The page also shared body camera video and Air One footage from the incident.
The sheriff’s office revealed that the deputies surrounded the home and made announcements in the effort to get the children to surrender peacefully. However, the children opened fire at them.
The teenage girl came out of a garage and shot at deputies outside the house with a shotgun. Mike Chitwood, Volusia County Sheriff, said the children fired at the deputies from multiple angles.
The teenage girl allegedly threatened to murder a sergeant. Speaking to investigators, later on, the preteen boy revealed what threat the girl used, saying she said:
"I'm gonna roll this down like GTA."
Chitwood shared how the teenager was referring to the video game Grand Theft Auto. The girl was unfortunately shot by the deputies and was wounded in the incident.
In March 2021, an armed robbery involving an 82-year-old woman occurred while she walked to her apartment.
The boy eventually put his weapon down and surrendered shortly thereafter the exchange and was not injured. Luckily, none of the deputies involved in the shootout were injured.
The children were identified as Nicole Jackson and Travis O’Brien. Before the shootout, the two children were reported as runaways from the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home before 5 p.m.
O’Brien, who has diabetes, didn’t have his medication with him, and Jackson allegedly hit a staff member with a stick before their escape. The children broke into the home at around 7:30 p.m.
In March 2021, an armed robbery involving an 82-year-old woman occurred while she walked to her apartment. Four juveniles were arrested and charged with armed robbery, grand larceny, and the use of a weapon.
In January 2020, five teenagers were arrested for their connection to an armed carjacking at a west Charlotte gas station. The incident happened at a Shell gas station on Old Little Rock Road at around 11 a.m.
