The Maine State Police have apprehended Hillary Goding of Old Town as she has been charged with manslaughter for the death of her three-year-old daughter, Hailey.

Last Friday, at 10:45 pm, the Old Town Fire and Rescue Department responded to a 911 call from Hillary where she stated that her daughter was unresponsive.

Afterward, Hailey was transferred to the Eastern Maine Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead on Sunday. Hillary was arrested on the same day and taken to the Penobscot County jail.

So far, the Chief medical examiner's office has performed an autopsy, but the result was withheld. Lisa Bogue, the assistant attorney in charge of the case, noted instances of prior drug use.

Bogue relayed that Hailey has been exposed to drugs in the past, and this resulted in the need for medical attention. She noted that although Hillary has never had a criminal record, she certainly had drug-related conduct issues.

Bogue also noted the nature of the allegations levied against Hillary, the amount of time it took for her to reach out to authorities, and getting medical assistance as part of what contributed to the little girl's death.

She is also yet to enter a plea, and information about her attorney has also not been confirmed.

An obituary put out by Hailey's family described her as a "smiling bundle of energy" who loved her pet chickens and all things sparkly and glittery. She was described as a kid who brought much joy.

While Hillary has been arrested, the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit and the Department of Health and Human Services, including the Old Town Police Department, have continued investigations.

The 28-year-old mom is being held on a $50,000 bond at Penobscot. She is also yet to enter a plea, and information about her attorney has also not been confirmed.
