TLC Reality Star Karen Derrico, Mom to Quints, Triplets & 2 Sets of Twins, Suffers Miscarriage

Reality star Karen Derrico recently shared a thought-provoking message on social media. The mother-of-14 opened up on her miscarriage while thanking fans for all the love they showed.

"Doubling Down With The Derricos" star Karen Derrico had a soul-stirring post up on Instagram as she opened up about enduring a miscarriage in the past week. Karen also reached out to fans.

The reality star addressed the issues surrounding miscarriages as she noted that the development was "hard." Karen informed women not to carry the burden alone.

She encouraged that people who have experienced miscarriage should be open to talking about it. She added that she would share her story in subsequent media updates.

When the TLC stars initially broke the news that they might be expecting their 15th child, Deon's mom, GG, was not pleased.

The star mom also took the moment to thank her fans for all the affection and comforting messages that came her way as she struggled with the loss of her unborn child. She wrote in her caption:

Karen is a mom to fourteen children, and she shares parenthood with her real estate investor husband, Deon Derrico. The couple is blessed with multiple births.

The couple's brood includes a set of quintuplets, two sets of twins, and a set of triplets. Speaking with People, Deon and his wife shared their grief on losing a child.

The couple noted that although it wasn't their first miscarriage, the heartbreak was very profound. The couple also acknowledged and reached out to other people who have experienced miscarriages.

In recent episodes of their TLC-aired family show, the couple discussed the state of her pregnancy. The 41-year-old mom shared that it seemed her pregnancy was a "real stressor."

The TV stars went through stages of confirming she was pregnant, to finding out there was no longer a fetus, and also discovering the pregnancy might still be present.

The Derricos decided to clarify the situation. While Deon stayed back at home as a "substitute teacher" for the kids, Karen went to the hospital. Her doctor would later inform her that she miscarried the fetus.

In the years since Karen started her motherhood journey, it has been recorded that she has overactive ovaries that lead to the release of multiple eggs per cycle.

Since DDWTD premiered, fans have watched the large family navigate their daily life. Karen once shared that their morning routine was chaotic when trying to get the kids ready.

Karen relayed that getting the kids dressed and fed felt like an "Olympic" event sometimes. She noted that the monthly stipend of feeding summed at $2,500 to $3,500.
