Woman Handcuffed and Taken off from JetBlue Flight for Refusing to Wear a Mask

An anti-masker delayed a JetBlue flight as she would remove her face mask every time the flight attendant walked away.

During an August 24 flight from Palm Beach, Florida to Hartford, Connecticut, TikTok user Brooklyn DeGumbia, who goes by the username @brooklyndegumbia, captured a cause of delay.

In her video, DeGumbia captured a commotion in the JetBlue flight concerning a woman who refused to wear a facemask.

Two flight attendants and a police officer tried to convince the woman to put her mask on as protocol, but she still did not want to comply.

According to the woman, she did not want to deboard the plane because her daughter was headed to college, and she probably needed to see her.

To protect the woman's privacy, DeGumbia covered her face with a smiley sticker, but as seen in the clip, another passenger took a video of the woman.

In the passenger's clip, the woman appeared to be wearing a mask, confusing those who viewed the post. DeGumbia explained:

"When she sat her down, she had her mask down, and when the flight attendant asked her to pull it up, she said she can't wear it cause she's nervous and this is her first time flying alone."

The flight attendant suggested for the woman to get off the plane while trying to find a solution to the problem. Although she initially agreed, the woman took her mask down after a few minutes.

DeGumbia also stated that the woman would properly wear her mask when the flight attendant came but would pull it down when she walked away.

The flight attendant told her to glue the face mask on her two-year-old daughter as she tried to take it off while crying.

The fiasco happened for around 90 minutes until the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office had to escort the woman off the plane in handcuffs.

The viral video racked up thousands of comments from angry TikTok users who could not believe such people would cause disturbance to others. One person said:

"Unbelievable these people get to waste everyone's time like this."

Another user said, "Why do they wait until they are on the [plane] to throw their tantrum. They signed up for this when buying the ticket."

Although JetBlue handled the situation quite well, an incident with Southwest Airlines made rounds online for rude and disrespectful staff.

According to Ali Cleek, the flight attendant told her to glue the face mask on her two-year-old daughter as she tried to take it off while crying.
