A Florida missing child case was closed this month in an unexpected turn of events. When 6-year-old Jacqueline Hernandez was abducted from her home 14 years ago, her mother was devastated.

Angelica Vences-Salgado could not believe she had lost her daughter, and the main suspect behind the disappearance was somebody she knew personally.

CONTACTED HER MOTHER VIA SOCIAL MEDIA

While many of the details surrounding the story remain unclear, a breakthrough made this year allowed the mother and daughter to embrace after all these years.

The now-19-year-old Hernandez contacted her mother via social media. She informed Vences-Salgado that she was living in Mexico and longed to reunite at the country's border.

They communicated with the mother and were also able to confirm Hernandez's identity via documentation and questioning. Finally, in September, the day the mother had been dreaming of for years arrived.

In a beautiful moment, the pair hugged as they met up in Laredo, Texas, close to the US–Mexico border. Davide Pezzutti, Homeland Security Orlando assistant special agent, shared a statement on the incident.
