THE FATEFUL GAME

“Head Coach Andy Reid felt ill after the game. He was evaluated by our medical staff in the locker room and was transported to the University of Kansas Health System for further evaluation," the tweet read.

The statement revealed the 63-year-old is doing well and is currently resting and in stable condition. Reid fell ill while at the Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri.

His team was playing against the Los Angeles Chargers before the incident. Following the Chiefs' 30-24 loss, he was transported to the nearest hospital in an ambulance.

He even missed the post-game news conference. Special teams coordinator Dave Toub told reporters Reid addressed the team right after the game before being transported to the hospital.

He noted Reid was not feeling well following the match but gave an excellent talk to the team. NFL reported the coach felt dehydrated throughout the game.

According to Fox News, players were unaware of their coach's condition. In addition to the update, the team did not reveal any further details about his current state.

REID’S CAREER

Reid has been the Chiefs’ head coach since 2013, and before he joined the team during that season, he had a long career coaching the Philadelphia Eagles.

The California native won his first Super Bowl with his current team in 2020, defeating the San Francisco 49ers. He is currently one win away from his 100th victory with the Chiefs, and if he wins, he will make NFL history.
