After giving birth to her daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, in August last year, Katy Perry has been open about her journey as a mother and a partner while maintaining her career. However, she has now revealed what her first weeks as a mother were like.

In an interview with “Variety,” Perry spoke about how she adjusted to being a mother and balances her life between her daughter, her work, and social interactions.

'POWER OF WOMEN" INTERVIEW

Variety recently released its “Power of Women” issue in which multiple successful and influential women shared their stories, ideas, and thoughts on several different issues to inspire women worldwide.

In this particular issue, Perry was interviewed about her being a first-time mother, an international superstar, and still finding the time to have a personal life. She said she will continue to put her daughter first before anything, though.

Perry said that the first six weeks of being a mother was the “biggest life change” because you're suddenly responsible for someone else’s health and wellbeing, and you have to ensure that they are okay at all times.

The songstress described it as not being number one on the call sheet, but it also is the best. She said that becoming a mother is a “real shift,” but she wouldn’t give up.

Perry also expressed her feelings about how motherhood is portrayed on social media. She said she prefers to live more in the real world and allow everything that isn’t meant to be in her or her daughter’s life to fade away.

Speaking about balance, Perry said she stays off of social media because motherhood is skewed, describing social media as an “echo chamber.” She revealed having found her balance by living in the real world rather than checking social media all the time.

Perry also revealed she is still ten pounds heavier than before she fell pregnant with 13-month-old Daisy, but she is happy in her skin and is in no rush to lose the weight because she focuses on her daughter instead.

DAISY DOVE BLOOM

Daisy Dove Bloom was born to Orlando Bloom and Perry on August 26, 2020. She had just celebrated her first birthday with her family who shared birthday tributes on social media.

With parents like Bloom and Perry, Daisy will undoubtedly be one extremely talented little girl, and with a mom as strong and influential as hers, she will most definitely be a force to be reckoned with, a “Firework,” if you will.
