Earlier this month, it was announced that Charlie Sheen would no longer be paying child support to his ex-wife Denise Richards. Richards has now said that she was “blindsided” by both the court date and the ruling.

"RHOBH" star Denise Richards received the news that she would be getting “0 dollars per month” for her two daughters, Sami and Lola, who she shares with Charlie Sheen. Sheen filed for divorce two years ago but has been pushing the child support case back until now.

After the hearing, Sheen said he thought the ruling was “extremely fair”; however, it has become apparent that Richards does not share the same sentiments.

THE RULING

In December 2019, Sheen petitioned that his responsibilities and obligations towards Richards be changed so as not to have to pay child support for either of the couple’s daughters.

While Richards did not deny the request, the court date was pushed back many times until October 4, when the ruling was handed down that Sheen would no longer have to pay child support.

Sheen was present in the courtroom and spoke to the press after the ruling, saying what transpired “speaks to not just today, but it speaks historically to that same fairness” because he had maintained custody of both daughters since April.

Although Sheen was present for the ruling and thought that it was the ruling he deserved, Richards was not present, and a source close to her claims she was never informed of the court date.

Not being present for the court date is not something Richards wanted, having asked Sheen many times when the court date would be while it was being pushed back.

“BLINDSIDED”

The source close to Richards says the actress had asked Sheen multiple times over the last two years when the court date would occur, and he “blew her off” each time. When the actual court date happened, Richards had no idea about it.

Richards was working out of state when the court date occurred, and hearing the ruling left her shocked as she was not aware that a ruling would be handed down that day because Sheen never notified her that the court date was set.

The source then said that the ruling was shocking because the pair’s daughter, Lola, lives with her parents and not just with Sheen. Their daughter, Sami, lives with her father full-time.

The source also believes Sheen was pitting his daughters against Richards, describing it as “horrible.” The source also claims Sheen did not serve Richards the court date to manipulate the situation further.

While it has been said that Richards was shocked by the ruling, sources close to her don’t seem to share in that same shock, saying:

'"This is very disappointing for Denise, but also not surprising."

Sources close to Sheen have said that Lola does not live with her mother part-time and this is why he will not be paying child support.
