Barker reclaimed the rights to the film franchise he launched for his horror novella, "The Hellbound Heart," last year. He is a producer for the reboot along with David S. Goyer, Keith Levine, and Marc Toberoff.

David Bruckner will direct the 11th installment, which was written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, who both worked on "Super Dark Times" and "The Night House."

Barker stated that Bruckner has paid homage to the first movie but "then [took] it to places it's never been before." He added that he did not expect "Hellraiser" to go to such heights.

The franchise has a cult status among genre fans, despite the first four movies only grossing just under $50 million. Fans will have to wait to see if the reboot lives up to the older films.
