Pearl Harbor’ Star Cuba Gooding Jr’s Life after Allegations of Misconduct Dating Back to 2013

Cuba Gooding Jr is known for his role in the classic film "Boyz n the Hood." These days, the actor's career appears to be taking a downward spiral, following some surprising revelations.

The year 2020 came with many difficulties for everyone, following the vast spread of the deadly coronavirus. However, others had to deal with more than battling the illness, and American actor Cuba Gooding Jr was not an exception.

Last year, the Oscar-winning actor was charged to court after allegedly sexually abusing a woman twice. According to the lawsuit filed, Gooding Jr assaulted the woman known as Jane Doe in a New York hotel room in 2013.

GOODING JR IS ACCUSED OF RAPE

In the complaint, Jane Doe met the Hollywood star in a Greenwich Village Restaurant and Lounge. After their meeting, Gooding Jr invited her to have drinks with him, and they proceeded to the Mercer Hotel in the Manhattan SoHo district.

The accuser made it known that Gooding Jr needed to change his clothes and invited her to his hotel room. Upon arriving at the hotel room, Doe claimed that Gooding Jr pushed her onto a bed and raped her twice as she tried to flee, despite giving him negative answers.

The actor denied all allegations leveled against him, noting that they were false and defamatory. In another filing, last month, the "Boyz N the Hood" alum's lawyer, Edward Sapone, said Gooding Jr, alongside two other witnesses, were ready to testify that the accuser was not held against her will.

Gooding Jr requested that the judge set aside a finding of liability in a civil lawsuit after Doe agreed that the actor's failure to respond to her accusations formally was not willful.

Sapone made it known that Doe had delivered a six million dollar lawsuit via her process server to an apartment where Gooding Jr was believed to live with his girlfriend.

According to the lawyer, Gooding Jr never lived in the apartment, hence claiming that he never received the lawsuit. The actor said nobody served him with complaints or summoned him in a signed affidavit.

Gooding Jr said he finally saw the complaint on August 3, 2021, five days after the United States judge, Paul Crotty, granted Doe a default judgment on liability. The actor has agreed to cover the accuser's legal fees because she obtained the default judgment.

ANOTHER ASSAULT AGAINST THE ACTOR

This would not be the first time a sexually related lawsuit has been filed against the child star. In June 2019, Gooding Jr was investigated for allegedly groping a woman at a bar in New York City. After the allegations came forward, he turned himself in at the New York Police department.

Not long after, he was eventually released, pending further trial. Four months later, reports had it that Gooding Jr was being indicted on a different sexual charge, which was so severe that it delayed his trial for the June case.

GOODING JR'S DIVORCE

According to the New York Times, Gooding Jr denied all the allegations against him. Many believe that his questionable character started after his divorce from his wife of 22 years and high school sweetheart, Sara Kapfer.

Kapfer legally filed for a divorce from her former husband in August 2014 and won primary custody of their three children. The couple finally got divorced three years later.

Following the tragic split, Gooding Jr devoted plenty of time to drinking, clubbing, and having fun, which landed him in a lot of trouble. However, he still made sure to update his Instagram fans with pictures of himself wearing cool outfits and accessories.

MORE HARASSMENT ALLEGATIONS

The Hollywood star's posts did not stop the sexual allegations from pouring in, and soon after, not only was one woman accusing him of sexual misconduct, about 30 women claimed the actor sexually harassed them.

Although the recent years have been filled with trauma for Gooding Jr, he already began experiencing challenges in his career before then. He was a recipient of an Oscar award for the 1996 film "Jerry Maguire."

Despite his achievement, he managed to lose the respect of some actors following his award speech. As an actor, Gooding Jr was said to have been interested in money rather than art.

With the negative thoughts and numerous sexual harassment complaints levied against him, the actor has no planned comeback. Clearly, Hollywood studios have no interest in hiring someone as controversial as Gooding Jr.
