Cop Surprises Woman in Her Home, Mows Her Lawn Because She Couldn't Do It on Her Own
A police officer stepped up to assist a West York woman struggling to mow her lawn under the scorching sun without demanding any payment, leaving the senior citizen in disbelief.
An officer’s act of kindness is helping many restore their faith in the police force. The Pennsylvania cop, officer Bree Wilson, has been making headlines since news of her good deed went viral.
A couple of years ago, on a fateful fourth of July afternoon, West York resident Sharon Markle set out to give her lawn a long-overdue trim. As she embarked on the daunting task, she felt herself become drained by the minute, with the sweat building up on her flushed skin.

Looking up, she saw a cop approaching her, causing the woman to brainstorm on the spot to figure out which law she violated. As the officer drew nearer, Markle became more fearful, fully convinced she would be arrested for a crime she knew nothing about.
To her surprise, the cop greeted her warmly before calmly informing her she wanted to assist in mowing her lawn. Discovering officer Wilson’s intentions left the woman frozen in shock. It turned out the officer had been observing the woman painstakingly mow her yard all along.
After figuring out the woman could not complete the task herself, the cop pulled up her vehicle close to the woman’s property and proceeded to approach her on foot to take on the challenge. The cop explained:
“Her face was flushed. She was sweating profusely. Definitely didn’t want to come back for an emergency call.”
Markle watched in disbelief as the kind officer completed the task cheerfully. But the woman was not the only one moved by the unfolding scene.

Somewhere around the block, another West York resident, Ryan Brunner, was mesmerized as he observed the cop performing the unusual task, slowly disproving his long upheld negative perceptions about cops.
He rushed closer to record the scene to help others see that “other side” of police officers. Brunner shared the footage on social media, achieving his desired effect as it soon went viral.
The neighbor explained how he felt cops always got “the bad,” painting them as oppressors. He believed it was good to have the world see the good for a change.

His perception of officer Wilson did not arise in a day, as he had observed her around the neighborhood, always doing good deeds. But nothing prepared him or Markle for her mind-blowing gesture. Little wonder the West York resident remained apprehensive as she watched her lawn transform.
When the officer completed her task, an unconvinced Markle couldn’t help but ask how much she owed the cop. Officer Wilson’s response left her even more stunned. She recalled:
“I looked at her and said, ‘What do you mean, what do you owe me?’ I said, ‘You owe me a smile. That’s what you could do for me. Pay it forward.”

After making her demands clear, the officer bid her final farewell and walked away, leaving Markle with the best Independence Day present ever.
The good deed also inspired Brunner and his group to decide to thereon mow the lawn for the woman, so she never had to do it herself again.
