Woman Can't Hold Back Tears on Seeing 'Garbage Man' Kneeling to Comfort Her Dad Who Has Alzheimer's
A woman decided to move in with her father after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's following her mother's death. While she had taken up the role of his primary carer, she was left stunned by his random act of kindness.
Loving and caring for our near and dear ones is one of the most precious feelings in this world. Just knowing that you have someone around you can help bolster your strength, giving you the courage to weather the darkest of storms.
While parents always do the best they can to protect and nurture their kids, they can easily miss out on important family moments due to illness or old age. This is why Julie Bick from North Bend, Ohio, didn't want to leave her dad alone in his sickness.

Bick's dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2017. Without second thoughts, she knew she had to be there for him because she already had regrets about not spending much time with her late mother. She told Love What Matters:
"I let life get in the way of making time for my mother and I refuse to let life get in the way of me spending these last moments with my father."
So she took her two kids and began living with her father, looking after him in the best way possible. One tough part was taking things away from her dad, including the liberty to take his own medicine and do house chores, as well as the keys to his truck.
Bick also did some research on the disease and discovered that Alzheimer's patients could be impacted if their routines were disrupted. However, there was still one thing that he enjoyed doing wholeheartedly, so she decided not to intervene in it.
As it turned out, her dad was very fond of conversing with the local garbage man, Harold, who knew how much their chats meant to the old man. The two often sat in the driveway every Monday and engaged in their weekly conversation.
Harold was a kind man who was liked by the entire neighborhood community. He was so considerate that he even went from door to door to get the garbage on holidays and other festive occasions.

Bick recalled that she felt gloomy one Monday morning, so she sat down on the porch to shed a tear or two. She then saw her father in the garage waiting for Harold, so she pulled a chair for him to sit down. Her father then told her:
“Harold is my friend. He is religious and I would like a moment with Harold so we can pray for you.”
The woman shared she was overwhelmed with emotions and knew that regardless of his illness, her father's heart was full of love, and nothing could ever change that about him.

Bick then gave Harold and her dad some space to talk. She was so overwhelmed to see Harold kneeling to comfort her father that she took a photo of the special moment so she could cherish it forever. Talking about experiencing such a scene, she shared:
"There is so much good in this world, and it starts with simple acts of kindness. Harold, thank you for your kindness and prayers. I will never forget this moment."
The phenomenal friendship between Harold and Bick's father shows that random acts of kindness never go unnoticed and can make a huge difference in people's lives.
