Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., and his beautiful spouse Shante Broadus, started dating when they were teenagers before he acquired fame and wealth.

The actor eventually married his love on June 12, 1997, at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in California. The couple shares three children, two sons and a daughter, Cordell, Corde, and Cori.

ROCKY MARRIAGE

In 2004, their marriage was tested when Snoop Dogg filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.” However, their split was short-lived. He told MTV at the time:

“I was trying to get a divorce, but I went back home, and I fell back in love with my wife and kids. A lot of times, you get cloudy. This music industry is a mother, man, and it'll take your vision and blur it."

The California native continued to explain that he soon realized he needed his spouse and children in his life and got rid of the divorce papers.

Snoop Dogg added that if people hear about him and Shante divorcing again, she would be the one filing, not him. He also admitted that he had previously made a mistake that he was trying to rectify.

He showed his remorse by begging Shante to take him back. The rapper told Larry King during an interview that he persisted because it was up to him to make things right again, saying:

"A whole lot of begging and pleading…it was up to me to try and put it back together because I'm the one who said I didn't want to be a part of it no more."

While at it, he confessed that things were still difficult for them because there are a lot of ups and downs in a relationship. Snoop Dogg mentioned that they had been together for nearly two decades and married for ten years.

Notably, he said some people in life are chosen for you, and he felt as though a higher power chose him and the mother of his kids for each other.

MORE TROUBLE

The duo reconciled four years later and even renewed their wedding vows in 2008. After experiencing that rough patch, their marriage was suddenly rocked by a sex tape.

In 2020, Instagram model Celina Powell leaked her sex tape videos with Snoop Dogg and Tekashi 6ix9ine. She reportedly charged $29.25 for 30 days from her subscribers to watch them.

Soon after the scandal broke, the “Young, Wild & Free” singer shared an appreciation post for Shante. He thanked her for the kids, her loyalty, stability, and ability to deal with him on his worst days.

CHEATING ALLEGATIONS

He then deactivated his account. Undeviatingly, Shante posted a cryptic Instagram picture throwing shade at her husband, saying people should not ask her for relationship advice because she took a man back 81 times.

In December 2019, she seemingly spoke about allegations that he was cheating on her. Powell had previously alleged in a YouTube video that she and Snoop Dogg had an affair in 2018.

She also alluded that they had a drug-fueled sexual encounter, revealing Snoop Dogg flew her out to meet up with him and that they had unprotected sex, per Capital Xtra.

In response to the rumors, Shante took to Instagram to share a cryptic yet sad message which was accompanied by crying face and broken heart emojis writing:

“You ever watch somebody you love turn into somebody you don’t know. Where Did We Go Wrong?”

Snoop Dogg has never verified Powell’s claims, but some of the cheating rumors have proven accurate.

SHANTE OPENS UP

One time, his wife opened up about their first rough patch when he filed for divorce. Shante got candid about the events that occurred in an interview with Sister 2 Sister magazine via Bossip.

The philanthropist shared that her spouse’s indecisiveness made things even more challenging, she recalled at the time:

"'You're trying to leave me, and you're asking me what you should do?' He didn't know. It was just a lot. And you know I understand. It's hard for me, and I'm just his wife. He's the star."

THEIR CHILD’S SICKNESS

In addition, their daughter Cori helped shape their marriage at the time. They welcomed her in 1999, and Snoop Dogg has publicly shared that Cori helped repair his marriage to Shante.

Cori was diagnosed with lupus, a chronic condition that causes inflammation and pain all over the body, when she was only six years old.

Snoop Dogg told People magazine in 2010 that his daughter was the love of his life. He explained that when she complained of the never-ending pain, it bothered him and made him feel helpless.

However, he applauded her unrelenting fighting spirit, with her mother agreeing that she did not know what she would have done without her spouse.

Shante added it is incredible how everything turned out, noting they were on the brink of a divorce but could not go through with it while their daughter was gravely ill.

ABOUT SHANTE

Despite hiccups within their 24-year-old marriage, Shante, 49 years of age, believes she and her husband work well together.

She said they are both used to one another while noting that it isn’t ideal that his career requires him to be away from his family, but they make it work, nonetheless.

Like the father of her kids, Shante was also born in California in 1971. She attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School, where she met her now-husband.
