Chadwick Boseman became a worldwide sensation when he starred as T'Challa / Black Panther in the superhero movie "Black Panther."

He led a fulfilling, purposeful, and generous life, and for a man whose career revolved around cameras, he loved a quiet personal life. His marriage to Ledward was only disclosed after he passed on.

THEY KEPT THEIR RELATIONSHIP A SECRET

Boseman and Ledward were linked for the first time in 2015 after photos of them at Los Angeles International Airport surfaced.

A year later, he took over the Wakandian mantle when he starred in "Black Panther," and following the consequent prominence the role brought him, he began attending more red carpet events in the presence of his girlfriend, Ledward.

Even though the two never spoke openly about their romance, Boseman finally acknowledged his love for the singer during the 2019 acceptance speech for the "Black Panther" Best Film Ensemble win.

He finally disclosed Ledward's place in his life, saying that she was with him every single day and he wanted to acknowledge her. He then said he loved her, after which the camera caught Ledward mouthing back, "I love you."

It would also come to public knowledge that the two were married when the family announced his passing. The couple had kept their wedding, just like their relationship and his illness, a secret from the world.

HONORING BOSEMAN'S MEMORY

Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016 but chose to disclose his struggles only with those close to him. He passed on in 2020.

Ledward continues to honor his memory. During the “Stand Up to Cancer” televised fundraising special in August this year, the singer did a beautiful rendition of the song “I’ll Be Seeing You.”

For what would have been Boseman's 45th birthday yesterday, many friends and family came out to send their tributes and birthday wishes after his family put up a post on his Instagram page.

Among those who sent their tributes is Boseman's costar on "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom," Viola Davis, her "Black Panther" costar, Lupita Nyong'o, Kerry Washington, and Wesley Snipes, among many others.

Boseman may be gone, but he left behind a legacy that will carry his name for decades to come, and he lives on as a celebrated and loved actor.
