Kyra Sedgwick met Kevin Bacon for the first time when she saw him act in a play during the 70s. It took almost a decade before they reunited in 1987, working together on the PBS movie "Lemon Sky."

Not long after, they started dating, and on Christmas Eve in 1987, Bacon proposed to Sedgwick, who surprisingly said yes! The couple got married in September 1988. A year after tying the knot, Sedgwick gave birth to their first child, Travis.

In 2005, Bacon, Sedgwick, and their kids appeared in the movie "Loverboy," which Bacon also directed. Since exchanging vows, they have enjoyed a steady level of success professionally.

Sedgwick is a proud winner of the Golden Globe for her performance in the T.V. series "The Closer." At the same time, Bacon has appeared in multiple blockbuster movies, including "Apollo 13" and "Mystic River."

SPEAKING ON THEIR RELATIONSHIP

Speaking to Redbook, Kyra Sedgwick revealed Bacon was initially not her type when they met. She remembered looking at his butt and not liking what she saw as they walked when they first met. Surprisingly, the couple got married a year later.

She said they are an open book, and being married for so long meant they keep no secrets from each other. They are also growing and learning about each other more every day.

Their trust and dependency also get more profound. Sedgwick said with her parent's divorce, she thought she would be okay and strong enough to handle life alone at the beginning of their marriage, but Bacon has become someone she counts on to live and walk through life.

The mother of two said she believes the primary relationship is between the mother and father, then their kids. She also thinks it is essential to keep a strong relationship as a couple, which is the foundation of everything else.

Sedgwick thinks when parents push for their goals, it encourages their kids to search for their dreams and bliss.

Kevin Bacon and his wife, Kyra Sedgwick, believe that a lot of effort keeps a relationship strong. One of which is trying to keep things fresh by learning new activities and making the bed.

Activism is also a big part of what keeps them happy. The couple like giving back, and they are one of the early crusaders, providing social awareness for things like climate change, plastic use, taking care of the ocean, practicing conservation, and local politics.

The famous couple also promotes being each other's supporters. Bacon encouraged wife, Sedgwick, to attempt directing a movie because he had seen her watch and analyze films and T.V. shows.

His encouragement and support were a big part of why Sedgwick eventually directed the movie "Story of a Girl."

They also revealed the importance of stepping up for one another. Sedgwick was the one who worked less when the kids were younger so that she could take care of them.

Bacon returned the favor when she landed the lead role in "The Closer" and had to travel to L.A leaving the kids in New York with her husband.

The couple also learned not to insult each other during disagreements, and whenever there is a conflict of interest, they find ways of working around it.

MARRIAGE TEST

On an episode of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Kevin Bacon revealed that quarantining with his wife, Sedgwick, during the initial pandemic lockdown tested their marriage.

He and Sedgwick had to make their marriage work by creating a daily routine to work around. The couple, who have been married for three decades, felt isolated and intentionally had to stay away from each other.

They would separate during the day and reunite for meals. Sedgwick would spend most of her time alone in the bedroom and then meet up with her husband in the kitchen.

Bacon revealed he enjoyed the routine because Sedgwick is a constant source of entertainment who made their meals fun with amusing talks and observations. One of the fun things the couple also did during quarantine was Bacon giving his wife a bikini wax.

Speaking of the hilarious event, the actor said he thought he could do anything and mixed some things he bought from IKEA together and waxed his wife. He later believed he should have left it to trained professionals.
