Katie Couric Mourns Late Bob Saget with Whom She Once Went on a Date — He Never Called Her After

Kate Couric and the late "Full House" actor Bob Saget once revealed they went on a date. Although it did not lead to a relationship, Saget confessed that their dinner together was enjoyable.

TV personality Katie Couric mourned the passing of late comedian and actor Bob Saget, whom she once went on a first date with, this week. He passed away on January 9, 2022, while he was on tour in Florida.

In her Instagram post, Couric informed fans that the Orange County Sheriff's Office detectives were called to the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, where they discovered Saget. They did not find any signs of foul play or drug use at the scene.

After sharing details of his passing, Couric shared a few highlights from his career, including his beloved actor Danny Tanner from "Full House" and "Fuller House." She also mentioned his work with raising awareness for Scleroderma.

She explained that the comedian was on tour and gave his last performance the day before he passed. The TV host then wrote of his personality as she described him as funny and charming. Couric said of the late actor:

One on one he was wonderful-funny, bright and incredibly charming. Just the nicest guy. Sending so much love and sympathy to his family and many friends."

Couric then ended the tribute by sharing with her followers that she planned to donate to the "Scleroderma Research Fund" in honor of Saget. The foundation was close to Saget's heart as his sister passed away from Scleroderma.

Saget left behind his wife, Kelly Rizzo, and his three daughters from a previous marriage. Although Couric is married to John Molner, she once revealed she has a fascinating dating history that included going on a date with Saget.

In 2013, Couric told Howard Stern on his radio show that she went on a first date with Saget, although he never called her back. Later in 2014, Couric confronted Saget about the situation on her show.

Saget revealed the two met during a Scleroderma benefit through a mutual friend and made a plan to get dinner together. He described the occasion as "lovely" and "very nice."

Although Couric did not get a call from Saget, the journalist shared the actor had made her laugh, and the date was successful as they even shared a kiss at the end of the evening.
