Dennis Quaid Eloped with His New Wife Who Is 39 Years Younger after 'Love at First Sight'

Dennis Quaid has been one of the top actors in Hollywood. His past marriages and subsequent divorces had always been highly publicized.

But this time, he walked the aisle one more time in a surprise wedding after he eloped with his much younger wife. The couple had been dating for less than a year before he proposed, and then they got married.

Their age gap was, as usual, on the top of the gossip list, but the actor has words about that.

Dennis Quaid dropped out of college at 20 to pursue an acting career. Five years after he dropped out, he got his breakout role when he starred in "Breaking Away" in 1979.

He starred in hits like "The Right Stuff," but in 1990, after he starred in "Postcards from the Edge," he took a break from filmmaking and returned three years later in Flesh and Bone,

He went on to star in "The Big Easy," "Something to Talk About," "Any Given Sunday," "The Day After Tomorrow," "A Dog's Purpose," "The Intruder," and more big hits.

HIS INFAMOUS PREVIOUS MARRIAGES

Quaid has been married four times, and he had been older than three out of the four women. It was only his first wife that was four years older than him.

The actor first got married to 28-year-old Pamela Jayne Soles in 1978 when he was 24. They met on the set of "Our Winning Season" and married the same year.

The couple, who married on a Dude ranch in Texas, divorced in 1983, and their marriage produced no children.

In 1991, Quaid married for the second time. He was 37 and married actress Meg Ryan when she was 30. They had starred together in "Innerspace" in 1987.

They fell in love when they worked together on "D.O.A." in 1988. They married on February 14, 1991, and the following year, they welcomed their son, Jack Henry Quaid.

Unfortunately, their marriage lasted for only nine years, and in June of 2000, they announced their separation and finalized their divorce in July of 2001.

50-year-old Quaid took a third wife, 33-year-old Texas real-estate agent Kimberly Buffington, in July 2004. Their wedding took place at his ranch in Paradise Valley.

In 2007, they welcomed a set of twins, Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace, via a surrogate. Five years after their twins, Buffington filed for divorce in March 2012 but withdrew the papers in April 2012.

Quaid filed for divorce seven months later and wanted joint custody of their kids, but their divorce was dismissed after reconciliation.

In 2016, 12 years after they married, the couple confirmed that their marriage was over, and they decided to part ways amicably.

When his marriage to Ryan ended, she initially said it wasn't because of a third party. However, eight years after their divorce, Ryan claimed she found out that Quaid had cheated on her.

18 years later, Quaid revealed that he felt small and overshadowed because his career had stalled and Ryan's was picking up momentum.

Quaid also said that it was a growth opportunity that he learned from and his relationship with Ryan was the most successful relationship he had in his life.

When his third wife filed for divorce, she claimed that their marriage had become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities. In her filing, she wanted spousal support and attorney's fees.

MEET HIS 39-YEAR YOUNGER NEW WIFE

When Quaid and Savoie met, she was a 26-year-old Ph.D. student at Austin's McCombs School of Business. Quaid is not the only celebrity she had dated at the time.

As an undergraduate at Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, she dated actor, comedian, and producer Jeremy Piven.

SPONTANEOUS PROPOSAL AND SURPRISE WEDDING

Quaid privately and spontaneously proposed to Savoie while they were both on the northernmost point of Oahu, at Turtle Bay, Hawaii, and he was promoting the movie "Midway."

He had planned the proposal for over a month and had the ring in his pocket. While Savoie was taking a selfie of both of them, he pulled out the ring and asked her to marry him, and he revealed that she fell after he asked.

A few months after he proposed, the couple eloped to Santa Barbara and married at a seaside resort on June 2, 2020. They had initially planned a wedding before the COVID-19 pandemic.

They had their pastor as the only witness for their surprise wedding as they exchanged the traditional vows with their Bulgari rings.

The bride wore a Chosen By One Day backless gown and opted for a bouquet of roses and calla lilies. The groom wore a light grey Hugo Boss suit with a white calla lily as his boutonnière.

For Quaid, when they met, it was love at first sight. He said,

"I just love who she is as a person. Her character, her intelligence, of course her beauty. And her point of view of the world."

Savoie revealed that she had never met anyone as in love with life as Quaid, and getting to do life with him is inspiring, changed her perspective, and brings so much joy to her daily.

ON THEIR WIDE AGE GAP

While addressing the 39-year age gap between him and his wife, Quaid said it doesn't bother them because people have different perspectives in life, and he can't get angry over it.

He also said no one had control over who they fall in love with and because he does not fall in love easily, he won't let what people think to take control.

Quaid knows this is his final marriage as he feels like they are genuine partners in life. He said,

"I didn't go out looking for an age gap or someone really younger than me. I met her at a business event, and then the relationship developed."

He confirmed that they don't notice the age difference between them as they relate better than anyone else. They have a great relationship, and they couldn't be happier.
