To date, American Actor and Singer David Hasselhoff and his third wife, Hayley Roberts, have one of the most beautiful love stories. The beginning stage of their relationship was like a romantic movie, and the pair have successfully kept it that way for more than ten years.

Although fans know about the couple's undying love for each other, not all are aware of how they met. A chance meeting in Cardiff in 2011 had Hasselhoff and Roberts googly-eyed from the beginning.

The talent show "Britain's Got Talent" had been filming auditions there and the pair stayed in the same hotel. At the time, Roberts worked as a sales assistant in a Debenhams store. One day, she ran into Hasselhoff and recognized him from "Britain's Got Talent."

The part-time model asked for a photograph, but unknown to her, Hasselhoff was not only famous for being on the British show. He played the character Mitch in "Baywatch" and appeared in "Young & Restless."

Roberts' lack of knowledge about the icon's level of fame touched him. Hasselhoff revealed that it was nice and refreshing, noting that he might have met the right person for him.

So, when the model asked for a picture, he gladly agreed on the condition that Roberts gave him her phone number. The woman accepted, and in no distant time, they started dating. Here are more details regarding Hasselhoff and his wife's long-term relationship.

ENGAGEMENT MADE HAYLEY CRY HARD

As weeks passed, Hasselhoff's feelings for Roberts grew more intense, and he realized he felt very unhappy without her. So, the singer decided to follow his heart and trap the model.

In 2016, the Hollywood star popped the question during a romantic beachside picnic in Malibu, California, and Roberts did not hesitate in saying yes. The model explained:

"We were both in tears… I genuinely had no idea he was going to do that. I'm still overwhelmed"

The moment was unbelievable for Roberts as her beau had jokingly proposed several times before. So when Hasselhoff finally popped the question for real, she did not understand it at first. But when the actor brought out the ring, Roberts could not hold back her tears. She confessed:

"I thought he was joking around at first. He's asked me before, but it was never for real. Then he pulled out the ring. I cried so hard that he didn't get around to actually asking, 'Will you marry me?' until about ten minutes later."

On Hasselhoff's part, he was delighted to spend the rest of his life with Roberts finally. He explained. "I had a saying, 'You don't get married because you want to live with someone, you get married because you can't live without them.' I felt that way."

HE DIDN'T THINK IT WAS RIGHT TO MARRY HER

Even though Hasselhoff and Roberts appear to be head over heels in love with each other, there was a time the actor doubted his desire to marry the model. Hasselhoff's conflicted mindset resulted from the 28 years age gap between the couple. He admitted:

"For the longest time, I didn't think it was right to marry Hayley as I was so much older, and I didn't want to take away the fun and the youth and the excitement of growing old together and having children."

However, after dating Roberts for seven years, he understood that she made him very happy. In addition, the model always felt like she acted older than her age, while Hasselhoff felt younger than his age. So, Roberts never saw her man as "too old" for her, and he was a perfect fit for her.

After being engaged for two years, Hasselhoff and Roberts finally tied the knot in July 2018, in a small intimate ceremony in Italy. To witness the joining of the pair were the couple's close friends and family, including Hasselhoff's daughters, Taylor and Hayley, from a previous relationship.

During the occasion, there were romantic moments, such as a dance-off between the couple and Hasselhoff singing for his bride. After the ceremony, everyone proceeded to a pool party, having a fun-filled night.

A few days leading up to the big day, the actor had gushed about the beautiful event. While speaking, Hasselhoff revealed that day and venue for the wedding ceremony. Also, he revealed that he and Roberts would be spending their two weeks honeymoon in the Maldives.

Indeed, the pair had their honeymoon in the Maldives, and to date, the bond they share remains unbroken. He has revealed that his marriage to Roberts is the only one from his heart. Before marrying the model, the actor was married twice.

His first marriage was to psychic Catherine Hickland in 1984. The pair stayed married for a short time before calling it quits in 1989. That same year, he tied the knot for the second time with Pamela Bach.

Unlike the first, Hasselhoff's marriage to Bach lasted a long time. Sadly, after 17 years, the pair divorced in 2006. Eventually, his marriage to Roberts put him in a happy place. Hasselhoff disclosed:

"When I got down on my knees and said, 'Will you marry me?' It was from my heart. It wasn't an ultimatum. My other marriages were kind of like, well, you've got to get married[...] This one is something that I wanted to do"

Today, it appears that marrying Roberts is one of the best decisions. The pair have fought against all odds to show that age is just a number when it comes to love.

Although they don't have any children together, it has not affected their union, and fans could not be happier for the duo. Hopefully, they get to spend a lifetime together.
