Mother-In-Law Secretly Installs Hidden Camera in Her Son and His Wife’s Bedroom
When a woman's mother-in-law scolded her over the phone for not changing the sheets, she wondered how she knew about it. A few hours later, she found a hidden camera in her bedroom.
The woman's 33-year-old husband was bedridden after surviving a major car accident. As his primary caregiver, she spent most of her day looking after him.
Despite putting in her best efforts, her mother-in-law complained that she was not taking care of him properly. She frequently criticized her but never helped when she came to visit her son.
After reading throwraOP96657's latest Reddit post in the AITA sub, the internet was shocked. They felt her mother-in-law had crossed her limits.
It all started when her husband survived a dangerous car accident, and the doctor prescribed bed rest so he could heal quickly. Her mother-in-law demanded that she take a break from her job to look after her husband.
She even asked OP (Original Poster) to update her every hour and would get angry and create a scene whenever she didn't receive an update.

OP shared that her mother-in-law visited her son every day but never bothered to help her. However, she did hand her an instruction manual on how to take care of her son.
No one in the room could tell her about it except her husband, and he hadn't called her.
Despite her mother-in-law's constant interference, OP remained calm because she understood she was doing it out of concern for her son.

Meanwhile, the woman also revealed how her husband felt about the entire situation. Ever since she got married, he blamed her for everything unfortunate that happened in his life.
"First he lost his job (so did I), then his family had a death, then his dog ran away, then his brother went to jail," OP recalled. He believed OP brought bad luck into his life.
After his car crashed, his belief became even more firm. The accident had severely damaged one of his blue eyes, and he had broken a few front teeth, making his smile look unattractive.

He blamed his wife for everything, and his mother agreed. OP confessed she felt terrible after hearing her husband blame her for bringing bad luck to him.
A few days before she wrote the Reddit post, she received a call from her mother-in-law scolding her for not changing the sheets. Confused, OP wondered how she knew that. No one in the room could tell her about it except her husband, and he hadn't called her.
Then her phone rang once again, but it was her sister-in-law this time. Expecting to be insulted again, she answered the call and discovered there was a hidden camera in her room.

After learning that her mother-in-law had installed the camera, she frantically searched for it in the entire room. Then she immediately dialed her mother-in-law's number and confronted her with the camera in her hand.
Her mother-in-law explained that she installed the camera out of concern for her son. She wanted to ensure that OP was looking after him well.
Furious, OP yelled at her and banned her from entering her house. After she hung up, the older woman called other family members and told them that OP was keeping her away from her son.

"The family called me later to get me to back out of this decision, but I told them she breached my privacy," OP explained. She told them she wouldn't take her decision back at any cost.
On the other hand, her husband told her that he would move in with his mother if she didn't let her visit him. Feeling confused, OP posted her story on Reddit to ask other users if she was at fault.
Redditor Auroraburst assured OP she wasn't at fault and added that her mother-in-law must have witnessed so many things she had no right to see. "Those thoughts were rushing through my head when I found out, and I felt so much rage," OP replied.

Meanwhile, Jessdownunder said it was time for OP's husband to go to his mother's place. OP replied that she would feel guilty if her husband went to live with her mother.
After reading her comment, 10ManArmy thought she needed to look at the situation differently. "OP, take one step back and think about this as if a friend was in the exact same situation," the Redditor stated, "I guarantee you would think that what is going on is insane."

The Redditor asked her to check other rooms for hidden cameras, suspecting her mother-in-law might have planted some there too. The user also suggested that OP send her husband to his mother's house and "reevaluate" her marriage.
Most Redditors assured OP she wasn't at fault, and they felt her mother-in-law invaded her privacy by installing the hidden camera.

One user told her she should have called the police, but she confirmed she didn't deem it necessary to involve the police as she didn't think it would improve the situation.

Questions to Ponder:
Do you think OP did the right thing by banning her mother-in-law from entering her house?
Many people supported OP's decision to ban her mother-in-law from her home because she had invaded her privacy. However, others might disagree, saying she was banning a mother from visiting her bedridden son. Do you think she took the right step?
Do you think her husband knew about the camera?
OP's mother-in-law installed the camera in her absence, but her husband was there. However, it's not clear whether he was awake or asleep. It might be possible that he knew about the camera but hid it from his wife since he didn't have a good relationship with her.
