'Who's the Boss?'s' Judith Light Lives Apart from Husband of 37 Years ⁠— Inside Her Marriage

Actress Judith Light and her husband have a peculiar marriage arrangement, and it works perfectly fine for them. After defying the odds, they are ready to take on the world.

Judith Light, best known for her award-winning performances in movies and sitcoms and also as a singer, has starred in a handful of TV shows and films including; "Ugly Betty," "Who's the Boss," "Transparent," and so many others.

Light met her husband, Robert Desiderio, when on the set of the movie "One Life to Live." They dated for four years before tying the knot in 1985.

Desiderio, after meeting her for the first time, wanted her to leave New York and move to California, but the actress declined on the grounds that she loved her city and would be nowhere else but there.

The hardworking actress, who has earned herself a name in Hollywood, is a focused and determined woman where business is concerned and is unapologetic about it. She once said :

LIGHT AND DESIDERIO MAKE A DECISION

The "Who's The Boss" actress and her hubby, Desiderio, have an understanding of quite a lot of topics, including the birth of their children. Light said that it was more of a choice than a decision between the both of them not to have children in their marriage.

She agreed that being a mother is a "joyful job," and she has seen quite a few family members who excel beautifully at their motherly duties.

The daughter of an accountant and model made it known that she has quite a lot on her plate, and although some people may call her selfish, it's a choice she made, and so what?

Light said unlike others who feel in their spirit the urge to have children, she does not have that strong feeling. She said it was a decision she and her hubby came about after a long, deliberate discussion before their marriage, and it was sealed.

The actress and Desiderio have a lot in common, which includes their love of alone time. This helped them come to an agreement on a lot of topics, including having kids. Light uttered:

"He loves his alone time."

The couple, who came to a concession about the birth of offspring, enjoy their time together and have ample time on their hands to enjoy one another's company. They were seen at Elton John's cocktail party in Beverly Hills.

Light, who has come a long way with her husband, posts throwbacks of them on Instagram. A couple that works together stays together. This is the case of Light and Desiderio, who take online classes to teach screenwriting.

OUT OF SIGHT IS NOT OUT OF MIND

Light and Desiderio do not live together, in fact, they live in different cities. The actress lives in New York while her husband lives in California. The evergreen actress said she loves New York so much and cannot imagine living elsewhere.

The hustle and bustle of NY has its positive effect on Light, and she has lived in the city so long that she has established business and personal relations that cannot be easily severed.

Desiderio, who is settled in California, understood his wife's plight and, being the dutiful husband he is, decided to meet her halfway by allowing her to live in her city whilst he in his.

Light declared that they have an adorable marriage and respect one another's feelings, although they want to stay together.

She cited an example when she had to go to NY on business, and her husband inquired what she was going to do about it; she bluntly stated that she asked him back what he was going to do because she was leaving for her gig.

Over the past three decades together, the couple has shown so much love and dedication to one another. They shuttle between the two cities to be together and keep up with their love life.

After 22 years away from the screen, Light returned bigger and better when she starred in an off-Broadway production "Wit," where she played the character of a cancer patient and had to shear her mane.

Her husband, who is ever supportive of her endeavors was nothing short of glad. The unusual couple, who share the love of humanity and went on a 75-mile wilderness hike to raise money for the South African AIDS charity, is nothing short of lovely.

LIVING THE BEST LIFE

The Emmy-nominated actress is anything but retired. The 70-year-old actress looks like she only has just begun to dazzle us. With the resurrection of her acting career, a whole lot of projects have been underway, and it sure seems like it's going to be a jolly ride for us all.
