WHY DID JENNIFER GREY AND JOHNNY DEPP BREAKUP

Many find it surprising that Depp and Grey were romantically involved. However, in her book, Grey pinpoints that she met Depp a year after breaking up with her then-boyfriend, Matthew Broderick.

These were the words Grey used to describe Depp in her memoir when they went on a blind date with him:

"We ate, talked, drank Jack Daniel's, laughed our asses off, took cigarette breaks midcourse. He was so ridiculously beautiful. And surprisingly open, funny, quirky and sweet…."

She had a good first impression of the actor. However, these two did not refrain from moving fast with their relationship when two weeks after seeing one another, Depp proposed.

The "Dirty Dancer" star said they got a Pekinese-poodle puppy who was a "practice baby." It also was a companion to the actress whenever her lover was away, which became often as he frequently traveled.

Things started to get sour between the couple when Depp was constantly in trouble. He regularly got into fights in bars and with cops.

Another turn-off for the actress was when he started missing his flights back to L.A. because he overslept, and when he came home, he was very jealous and paranoid about all that happened in his absence.

Grey had had enough just before her 29th birthday when Depp went for a meeting and never communicated with her or came back. That was the last straw, and she called off her engagement.
