With his powerful voice, Thompson continuously stepped up to the challenge at every round. There were times his take on some songs shocked and amazed the judges.
He won the hearts of many as they threw their support behind him. With all eyes on Thomspon, everyone wants to know who the "American Idol" winner is, and we have all the details.
WHERE IS NOAH THOMPSON FROM?
Before "American Idol," Thompson lived and worked in Louisa, Kentucky, where he was a construction worker focused on remodeling, finishing work, and more. In his introduction video, he said:
"My favorite part is probably the people I work with."
His co-worker, Arthur Johnson, urged him to join the competition and signed him up for an audition because Thompson was not confident enough to do so himself.
Johnson also helped Thompson film his virtual audition video. During Hollywood Week, Thompson revealed to Lauren Alaina that he and his girlfriend, Angel, had recently welcomed a son, Walker, and they had come to support him.
He explained that Walker had just turned seven months. Besides singing covers of famous songs, Thompson also writes his own music. He even performed his single "One Day Tonight" on the "American Idol" stage.
HOW FAR DID NOAH GO ON "AMERICAN IDOL?"
When Thompson made it to the top 5 finalists, he could not believe his luck and never expected to make it to the season's finale. When asked how he would feel if he won, Thompson said:
"The way I feel about it, I would be in complete shock, to be honest, because I did not expect to make it this far whatsoever — at all — never in a million years, so I would be so grateful."
However, he was also rooting for the other finalists to win and was happy to be there. During the top 5 performances, "American Idol" season 4 winner, Carrie Underwood, was their mentor.
After Underwood listened to his performance, she became emotional. She said she felt like they created the show for people like her and Thompson who knew they wanted to do something but didn't know to dream that big.
Teary-eyed Underwood revealed that her decision to compete in "American Idol" changed her life as she had no idea where she would have been. She was also excited to see contestants get every opportunity they wanted.
