Is Matthew McConaughey Married?

Even as their family size increased, the "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" actor Matthew McConaughey was not married to Camila Alves for years. Six years after they started dating, he asked her to marry him. She did not initially say "yes," but the rest is history.

Matthew McConaughey, known for his easy-going personality and good looks, had previously appeared in commercials and minor film roles before his first big break in 1993 when he starred in "Dazed and Confused."

The king of romantic comedies garnered more fans as he starred in "The Wedding Planner," "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past," "Failure to Launch," "Dallas Buyers Club," "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," and "Fool's Gold," among others.

The 2005 People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" has not only touched the lives of his fans through his movies, but he also reaches out to those around him. After the shooting in his hometown, Uvalde, Texas, McConaughey took his family to pay their respects.

He, his wife, and kids visited the memorial site, where they also prayed for the 19 students and two teachers who were shot and killed inside the Robb Elementary School.

The Oscar-winning actor, who lived in the town until he was 11, took photos with the school district staff and visited the Uvalde Civic Center. McConaughey said:

"Once again, we have tragically proven that we are failing to be responsible for the rights our freedoms grant us. [...] We cannot exhale once again, make excuses and accept these tragic realities as the status quo."

He urged Americans to re-evaluate, and renegotiate their wants from their needs, rearrange their values and find common ground above the devastating American reality that has tragically become their children's issue.

IS MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY MARRIED?

In 2006, McConaughey met model Alves at a club in Los Angeles, and he was instantly interested in her. He said:

"I didn't say, 'Who is that.' I said, 'What is that.' We had a great connection. I spoke better Spanish and Portuguese that night."

Alves did not recognize him because he had a long beard and wore a rasta hat. Three days later, they had their first date when he cooked dinner for her. Since then, he has never stopped wanting to go on a date with her. They tied the knot in a private ceremony in 2012.

DOES MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY HAVE CHILDREN?

On July 7, 2008, McConaughey and Alves welcomed their first child, Levi, and their daughter, Vida, joined the family on January 3, 2010. On December 28, 2012, they welcomed another son, Livingston.

Vida is already walking in her dad's footsteps as she had a role in the movie "Sing." She had a couple of lines as she played the piglet scuba diving in chocolate.

McConaughey also revealed that all his kids have a passion for photography as they were his official photographers during the lockdown. He said they were getting so good and were becoming a production crew.

Alves relocated to the U.S. from Brazil when she was 15 and decided to stay back. At 19, she pursued a modeling career and was the host of the third season of "Shear Genius" in 2010.

Alves runs a lifestyle website and is the co-owner of Yummy Spoonfuls, an organic food company that introduced a product line for babies and toddlers in 2016.
