ANNA KOURNIKOVA'S LIFE FROM TENNIS TO STARDOM

Born in Moscow, Russia, on June 7, 1981, Kournikova is a retired tennis player who attracted a lot of attention for her impressive skills on the court and striking good looks.

She fell in love with tennis early on and began practicing at age five. By the time Kournikova was ten, she was already a promising tennis prospect, so she began training in Nick Bollettieri's academy in Florida.

Kournikova made her Grand Slam debut at 15. She made it to the fourth round of the US Open but lost to Steffi Graf, one of the iconic tennis players Kournikova grew up watching.

In 1997, Kournikova lost to Martina Hingis in the semifinals at Wimbledon, making her best singles run in a Grand Slam. Hingis and Kournikova teamed up to play doubles and win the Australian Open two years later. They ended 1999 ranked No. 1 in doubles.

Unfortunately, things got complicated too soon. Kournikova suffered a stress fracture in her foot and underwent surgery in 2001, and she retired in 2003. She kept making money as a model, though.
