In a chaotic world filled with stories of failed marriages, especially in Hollywood, Bridges, and Geston have endured a very long and successful union since 1977. The couple first met in 1975, while Bridges was filming the movie "Rancho Deluxe" in Montana.
While shooting a scene at a place called Chico Hot Springs, the actor laid his eyes on the woman of his dreams, and it was love at first sight. Bridges recalled:
"I couldn't take my eyes off her. Not only was she gorgeous, but she had two black eyes and a recently broken nose (from a car accident, I later learned.) Something about her beauty and disfigurement kept me riveted."

After work, the actor approached Geston and asked her on a date, but unfortunately, the feeling was not mutual. She turned down his request, and Bridges asked again, but her answer remained negative.
Luckily for the actor, fate was on his side as he met Geston again, and this time, they would begin their love journey.

Sometime after their first meeting, Bridges and his wife did run into each other again. They danced the night away on their second meeting, and it did not take long for the actor to fall in love.
The following day, the lovebirds had their first official date. Bridges had scheduled a meeting with a local real estate agent to see a property, and he invited Geston.
The pair walked around, looking at a ranch house on the river, and while at it, Bridges had many thoughts on his mind.

He felt that he was on a date with his future wife, but at the same time, he was scared of commitment. In his words:
"I couldn't bear to let the love of my life slip through my fingers, but at the same time, I was afraid of declaring, 'This is the one!' I was crazy in love."
Bridges struggled with his fears and thoughts for two years before finally asking for Geston's hand in marriage.

During a 2015 interview, the actor confessed that Geston had threatened to leave due to his hesitation.
He realized that he could not let the woman of his dreams go, and he was left with no option but to pop the question.
Even though he struggled with his fear of commitment, the actor was assured that he could always get a divorce if the marriage did not work out.

A few days after asking Geston to marry him, Bridges and his leading woman invited their friends to their wedding.
The ceremony took place in June 1977, and not long after, the couple expanded their family. The actor and his wife welcomed three lovely daughters, Isabelle Bridges, Jessica Lily Bridges, and Haley Roselouise Bridges.
Jeff has done very well in the marriage institution for a man who battled with fear of commitment. He and Geston's union turned out to be the best decision, as the actor has consistently shown how much he is still madly in love with his wife.

For example, in 1987, Jeff received a note from one of the employees who worked with the film crew while he was shooting "Rancho Deluxe." The note the actor received was also accompanied by two pictures of Jeff asking Geston out when they met.
The snapshots meant a lot to the actor, and during a 2015 interview with OWN, he revealed that the snaps had been in his possession since that day. Jeff said:
"I have them in my pocket; they're my prized possessions. To have pictures, what are the odds of that?"

"Isn't she gorgeous?"

Jeff and Geston will celebrate 45 years of marital bliss in June 2022, and the former cannot be more grateful for having his woman by his side.
Not only is Geston a doting wife, but she is also her husband's support system. The actor once opened up about his wife and how much of a blessing she is.
According to Jeff, Geston points out ways that he defeats himself. For example, whenever the actor gets scared of taking on a new project, his wife is always there.

She reminds him that he consistently exhibits fear when asked to do something new. In that instance, Jeff admits Geston's words are true and pushes the fear aside. Jeff once noted:
"We've been doing this so long, and we care for each other so much, that our relationship is most precious thing for both of us."
The Hollywood icon believes that changing partners every time things get tough or a little dissatisfying will only hinder people from enjoying the "richness" of long-term relationships.

For Jeff, Geston's constant support despite the difficulties makes him love her even more. According to the "King Kong" star, getting a divorce is not an option.
Whenever challenging times arise in a relationship, Jeff believes they are opportunities for couples to get to know each other better and become more intimate.
