Wise's exceptional work earned him seven Academy Award nominations and eleven nods from BAFTA. He later appeared in films such as "The Moonstone," "The Buccaneers," and "Cranford."

HOW DID EMMA THOMPSON MEET GREG WISE?

Thompson and Wise first met in 1995 while filming the mega-budget Jane Austen period drama alongside Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant, and Alan Rickman. Thompson played the lead star Elin Dashwood in the period film.

On the other hand, Wise and Thompson did not fall in love at first sight. Thompson revealed that her future husband pursued Winslet because Wise believed he and the "Titanic" star were destined to be together.

According to Thompson, Wise's "witchy friend" predicted that he would meet the love of his life in the film. Wise, for his part, admitted on the Loose Women show interview that he went to see his psychic pal. Meanwhile, Thompson quipped:

"He assumed it wasn't me because I was married and quite a lot older than him so he thought it might be Kate."

The "Good Luck to You, Leo Grande" lead star was still struggling with her difficult divorce from ex-husband, actor Kenneth Branagh when she met Wise. She and Branagh divorced after six years of marriage.

Because of the heartache she felt, Thompson struggled with clinical depression immediately after her and Branagh's marriage ended. The "Love Actually" actress was unable to focus on her career.

Her brokenness began to fade when she worked on the Jane Austen film adaptation. She said the iconic movie saved her from "going under" after her unsuccessful marriage to Branagh.

Meanwhile, as his feelings for Winslet became stronger, Wise revealed that the "The Reader" actress was the one who suggested he should date Thompson, who was officially out of marriage.

Winslet told Wise that he and their co-star were a good match. Wise soon understood that Thompson was the woman his prophetic friend had predicted would be his future partner.

The couple's relationship has also been fun. When Wise became a contestant on "Strictly Come Dancing," Thompson gave him an important item just in case he succumbs to the show's "curse" and cheats with dance partner Karen Hauer. Thomspon said:

"I have put a packet of Durex into Greg’s good luck card. Just two."

Although she made fun of her husband, Thompson admitted she was worried that Wise might leave her for another woman. Wise's dance partner, Hauer, from Venezuela, is young and beautiful, according to the "Cruella" actress.

Before their marriage, the 63-year-old movie star and Wise had already had their daughter, Gaia, in 1999. Their daughter, now 22, has followed in their footsteps and is also an actress.

Gaia has appeared in many films, including the 2008 film "Last Chance Harvey" and 2015 "A Walk in the Woods" alongside her mother. The couple's daughter is also a stage actress who appeared in the West End production of Sweeney Todd.

Following their daughter's birth, the couple attempted to have another child together, but Thomspon could not conceive. Tindyebwa, a former Rwandan child soldier, was adopted as the couple's second child.

Tindy, as the couple affectionately refers to him, battled in Rwanda. He was nine years old when his biological father died of AIDS. When he was 12, soldiers invaded his Rwandan community.

He escaped his homeland at the age of 16 with the help of a charity worker. In search of safety, the boy and the charity worker boarded an airplane heading for London.

Unfortunately, Tindy ended up living on the streets of Trafalgar Square in London. Thompson later offered him some assistance at a Refugee Council event months later.

Tindy took time to warm up to his adoptive mother because he is new to her. After Thomspon and Wise invited him home for Christmas dinner, his life changed. He grew to adore his adopted family after that.

The couple's adopted child is now in his 30s and works as a humanitarian with the Metropolitan Police. He graduated with two degrees and speaks eight languages.

Wise took on the role of a father figure. The 56-year-old actor felt proud of his son's efforts to help others, especially victims of human trafficking and radicalization.
