Ben Affleck's 10-Year-Old Son Who He Admitted 'Needs to Be Taught' Dents $250K Car While Driving It

Ben Affleck is a proud father who takes a hands-on approach to raise his kid; however, despite his best interest, his son still managed to get into trouble that could have been avoided.

Ben Affleck met the mother of his daughters, Jennifer Garner, in 2001, after which they sparked dating rumors. The actor had only just called off his engagement with his fiancée, Jennifer Lopez.

Affleck and Garner dated for a couple of years before getting married in June 2005. Six months later, they welcomed their first child, Violet, and about four years later, their second child, another girl named Seraphina, was born.

Parenthood manifested well with the couple, who were doting parents to their two daughters, putting in quality family time despite the demands of their jobs. They welcomed their third child in 2012; it was a boy, and they named him Samuel Garner Affleck.

Before his birth, Affleck had once jokingly complained that the women to men ratio in his home leaves him outnumbered, so the boy's arrival was a dream come true for the father.

TROUBLE IN PARADISE

Affleck and Garner's family was almost perfect, but the actor had a problem — his love for the bottle. Fortunately for him, Garner did not abandon him. Instead, the woman stayed by his side and ensured he got help, even after they became estranged.

She watched over their kids and was still patient enough to see to his treatment, going as far as driving him to a facility and staying to make sure he got registered.

Insiders said going to the facility voluntarily was his last-ditch attempt to save their relationship, but it was too late given all he had put her through earlier that year. Garner was ready to move on.

The pair filed divorce papers a month after Affleck completed his treatment in 2017. Garner wanted to ensure he was no longer struggling before she finally left him.

The separation was amicable, and the custody, as well as assets, were smoothly sorted out. The two wanted things to be as peaceful as possible because they wished to raise their kids together.

The divorce details were finalized in 2018, with the pair handling the business part of it outside court with help from their respective legal aids.

THEY KEPT LIVING TOGETHER

After their initial split, Affleck and Garner focused on their kids' well-being. In the months following their separation, they continued to live on the same property, with Affleck occupying the guest house while figuring out what they would do about accommodations.

The marriage may have ended; however, both parents wanted to be as close to their kids as was possible.

They would go on vacations together, and about eight months after their split became official, they came together to celebrate their third child's birthday.

At the time, a source close to the pair said they were working hard to ensure the divorce process was smooth for the sake of their kids.

Co-parenting is no joke to Affleck and Garner. The actor believes that it takes two to nurture children, and when it comes to boys, they need a strong man in their lives.

Raising his kids has been one of the highest things on the list of his priorities, and not even separation from his wife could change that. He said:

"The most important thing to me is to be a good father. Boys need to be taught."

A BREACH OF PRINCIPLE

Since his romantic relationship with Garner ended, Affleck has been on the straight and narrow. In 2021, he rekindled his romance with his former fiancée, Jennifer Lopez, and the two fell in love again.

Affleck once revealed how "lucky" he felt that it was happening, speaking about the second chance he got with her. He also implied that he planned to seize the opportunities the second chance would bring him.

Lopez said they are now older, wiser, and more experienced than the first time they were together. She also mentioned their kids and admitted that their actions would have to take all that under account before anything else.

In April, Lopez was spotted wearing an engagement ring; later, she revealed the good news via her newsletter. They have also been mingling with each other's children, and their respect for one another is one of the most endearing things about them.

Affleck continues to spend lots of time with his kids to bond with them, but even though he has stated that he is also there to keep his kids in line, there have been cases where they got into mischief.

The most recent was when his son, Samuel, got behind the wheels of a yellow Lamborghini and reversed into a parked white BMW.

Affleck, Lopez, and Samuel had been at 777 Exotics, a Beverley Hills luxury car rental dealership, to check out some rides when the actor had let his son get behind the wheels of the flashy Lamborghini.

The talented actor had been standing outside the car, costing more than $230,000, while Lopez got into the backseat.

After the accident, the boy was pictured inspecting the possible damage to the two cars, and afterward, his father was seen comforting him with a tight hug.

Thankfully neither of the cars was affected, and neither was Samuel. It did not take long for things to be sorted out. A dealership employee said:

"When [Samuel] got into the car, it jerked back and forth. We have a small lot and the cars are close. Everybody was OK."

Garner has not broken her silence on the incident, but that is to be expected because she has always been a private person who values doing things under the radar.
